Sony directed or SE, and Final Fantasy 16 producers denied that the game would be released to PC

In a recent interview, Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida denied news that Square Enix's upcoming game would be available on PC, suggesting that players buy the PlayStation 5.

Industry insider Genki shared a video clip posted on Japanese website Nico video on Twitter, in which he translated Shigeru Yoshida's Japanese commentary on the PC version of Final Fantasy 16 in English: "Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing. Why is it like a PC version is releasing 6 months later? Don't worry about that, buy a PS5! (laughs) Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best so please look forward to it"

Yoshida said, "No one said that the PC version would be released. Why is there news that the PC version will be released in 6 months? Stop thinking about it, buy a PS5 (laughs). Sorry, I went a little too far. We have done our best, so please look forward to it. ”

According to IGN, Yoshida's statement that "no one said a PC version would be released" was untrue, and the game's initial trailer showed that "it was also available on PC", but Square quickly quietly canceled this statement. IGN went on to say that in November 2022, the exclusivity of the Sony PS5 was once again questioned for Final Fantasy 16. The 6-month exclusivity rumor stemmed from an ad for the PS5 DualSense controller that stated that Final Fantasy 16 would only be "6 months exclusive on PS5," meaning it would land on another platform (be it Xbox, Nintendo Switch or PC) in December 2023, six months after its launch on June 22.

Interestingly, Forspoken, which will be released on January 24, will be exclusive for 2 years on PS5 and PC, and correspondingly, Microsoft Xbox will need to release the game after January 24, 2025 at the earliest.

Phil Spencer, president of Microsoft Xbox, earlier in his discussion about the regulation of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, said Sony's growth plan is to "make Xbox smaller" and that "Sony is trying to protect its dominance in consoles." The way they're growing is by crowding out the Xbox."

Sony's "borrowing" from Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription strategy has not achieved substantial results: the number of games in the game subscription library is fraudulent, and Sony's official marketing word games, old members make up the price difference and other reverse operations, such as "No More Days" no longer has a sequel, people are puzzled.

Spencer later tweeted that Microsoft had promised to license the Call of Duty series to Nintendo consoles. GamerMarch speculates that if it weren't for the antitrust pressure to acquire Activision Blizzard, Microsoft might have completely stripped the Call of Duty IP from the Sony platform. At present, licensing Call of Duty to Nintendo without affecting the progress of the acquisition is indeed an effective strategy to (have to) remind (fanzhi) Sony.
