Be a pioneer and innovate the comprehensive route selection technology of mountain railway

In July 1997, a new employee was welcomed at the line office of the Second Hospital of China Railway - Xie Yi, who had just graduated from the railway engineering major of Northern Jiaotong University and looked a little young. Like many recent college graduates, Xie Yi was sent to the grassroots survey team to train as soon as he joined the work. Since he was a child, he was not afraid of hardship, and he was "like a fish in water" in the difficult field survey environment. "The two and a half years of training in the survey team directly under the Kunming Institute were the most memorable time in my working life. We often slept on bunks, nibbled steamed buns, drank spring water, and went up the mountain to the top and down to the ditch. It was also during this period that I was closely influenced by the good qualities of the old-timers of the Second Courtyard. Xie Yi said.

In December 1999, Xie Yi returned to the line office of the Chengdu headquarters. With solid basic skills and diligent and studious hard work, he grew together with the Second Academy: his route selection technology continued to improve, and he served as the bidding master for nearly 20 railway projects; Won the bid for more than a dozen major projects such as Haidong, Chenglan, Nanguang, Guiguang, Xicheng, Zhengwan, Yukun, Xiyu, and Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line; He has presided over the survey and design of a number of national key projects such as the Trans-Asian Railway, China-Laos Railway, Nanguang High-speed Railway, Chongqing-Kunming High-speed Railway, and Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line High-speed Railway.

For more than 20 years, Xie Yi has continuously summarized the route selection technology of the predecessors of the line, and continued to innovate the comprehensive route selection technology of domestic mountain railways. He presided over the design of the Yukun high-speed railway, the longest and largest continuous ramp high-speed railway in China, carried out key technical research on the long ramp of high-speed railway, innovatively proposed the line selection design technology with the best comprehensive performance of vehicle-line-power supply system, solved the problem of deterioration of safety and efficiency of long-ramp operation, and provided solutions for the construction of high-speed railway in mountainous areas of China. A series of digital line selection systems have been developed, which has realized the historical leap of railway route selection from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, from manual routing to computer line selection + manual decision-making, and greatly improved labor productivity and design quality; A comprehensive evaluation method and system for railway construction plans based on four objectives, three levels and full life cycle has been established, and a new mode of railway construction plan comparison and selection of "expert qualitative analysis + multi-level quantitative evaluation" has been formed, which solves the problem of insufficient scientific and quantitative level of traditional comparison methods.

From the early Chengdu-Kunming and Nankun railways to the current Yukun and Xiyu high-speed railways, it is not only a leap in design speed from 80km/h to 350km/h, but also an improvement of the design concept from a single "engineering line selection" to "comprehensive line selection"; It is not only a leap in design means from traditional "manual line selection" to "intelligent line selection", but also the embodiment of the spirit of "brave pioneers" of the people of the Second Academy who dare to be the first in the world. Xie Yi is the promoter of the development of domestic mountain railway route selection technology led by the Second Institute of China Railway.

Shipbuilding to the sea, promote China's railway "going out"

In May 2010, Xie Yi, as the design director of the China-Laos Railway, participated in the first intensive inspection and investigation of the whole process of the China-Laos Railway, and was received by the top leaders of Laos. "For four consecutive days, the heads of relevant departments of China and Laos, and even the deputy prime minister of Laos, we worked together to travel between Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, and Muang Sai to Boten." Xie Yi said, "The first impression of Laos is that it is mountainous and lacks roads, the traffic is relatively backward, 80% of the territory is mountainous and plateau, and the railway mileage is only 3.5km." After many efforts, the new section from Boding to Vientiane of the China-Laos Railway has adopted Chinese standards, Chinese technology and Chinese equipment, and is directly connected to the Chinese railway network.

From preliminary research to survey and design, and then to cooperate with construction, Xie Yi walked all over the China-Laos Railway with his feet. He has always adhered to technical support and innovation-driven, actively implemented the "Belt and Road" initiative, and promoted the "blossoming and fruition" of "Belt and Road" projects. On December 3, 2021, under the joint witness of the top leaders of China and Laos, the "Belt and Road" and the landmark project of China-Laos friendship - China-Laos Railway were put into operation, which was designed by the Second Institute of China Railway.

From 2017 to 2020, Xie Yi, as the technical leader in charge of overseas projects of the group company, from Laos to Iran, from Bangladesh to Ethiopia, he traveled to more than 20 countries around the world, bringing Chinese technology and wisdom to the world. Over the years, he has presided over the research work of dynamic tracking of foreign standards, comparison of Chinese and foreign railway construction standards, and the transformation and application of Chinese railway standards in overseas projects, and put forward the situation, existing problems and specific countermeasures and methods faced by Chinese railway standards "going out", which has laid a solid foundation for realizing the overall export of China's railway technology and promoting China's railway "going global".

Over the years, he has presided over the survey and design of a number of major "Belt and Road" projects such as the China-Laos Railway and the Iranian High-speed Railway, overcoming environmental and technical problems, innovating the mode of Chinese and EU standards, equipment comparison design and inspection, organizing and carrying out a series of activities such as inspection and exchange among relevant parties in China, and promoting the realization of China's railway "going out" and forming a demonstration and leading role while successfully completing the project construction answers.

Since the first overseas survey and design of Tanzania's Tanzania-Zambia Railway in 1965, the overseas road of China Railway Second Institute has experienced the departure of "borrowing ships to go to sea" in the early days of the establishment of the institute, to cooperating with China and Turkey, China Railway International, China Overseas and other enterprises to win Ethiopia and Nigeria projects in 2006, and began the voyage of "taking a ship to sea", and then to the first overseas work conference of China Railway Second Institute in September 2010, pointing out the development path of overseas markets and embarking on the great journey of "shipbuilding to sea". Xie Yi is the practitioner of the gorgeous transformation of the overseas road of China Railway Second Institute from "taking a ship to the sea" to "shipbuilding to the sea".

Pioneering and innovating, leading the world to faster high-speed rail technology development

High-speed railway is an important symbol of transportation modernization, and an important embodiment of a country's scientific and technological progress and industrialization level. At present, there is no commercial operation experience of high-speed rail with a speed of 400 kilometers per hour in the world, and the world's high-speed rail powers want to seize the commanding heights of high-speed rail operation speed. China has also accelerated the pace of building a transportation power, and the "Outline for the Construction of a Transportation Power" clearly states that "the research and development of technical reserves such as high-speed wheel-rail passenger train systems with a speed of 400 kilometers per hour will be arranged".

In January 2020, the bidding for the Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line High-speed Railway, a major infrastructure in the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle, was officially launched, and Xie Yi once again served as the overall project leader. On September 26, 2021, Chongqing Municipality, Sichuan Province and China National Railway Group jointly announced the start of the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line, marking the official implementation stage of the world's first high-speed railway with a speed of 400 kilometers per hour.

As the chief designer, Xie Yi led the team to carry out research on more than 10 major engineering and technical problems and scientific research topics such as wheel-rail relationship at a speed of 400 kilometers per hour, pantograph network relationship, aerodynamics, spatial alignment, basic structure, four-electric system, shock absorption and noise reduction, etc., breaking through a number of key technical bottlenecks in the planning and construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line high-speed railway. Xie Yi said confidently: "Relying on the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line high-speed railway, we will establish a complete set of construction theory and standard system for 400km/h + high-speed rail, improve the existing 250km/h~350km/h high-speed railway standard, and carry out relevant scientific experiments to explore the speed limit of the wheel-rail system and consolidate the leading position of China's high-speed rail in the world." ”

As early as 2015, since the launch of the Moka high-speed railway project in Russia, Xie Yi has always adhered to pioneering and innovation, and has been moving forward in the research of higher-speed high-speed railway technology. Relying on the Moka high-speed railway, he presided over the research on the key technology of high-speed railway line bridges and tunnels in special cold areas with a speed of 400 kilometers per hour, overcame the technical problems of 400km/h high-speed railway construction in cold areas, and proposed various professional design methods and technical parameters, filling the gaps at home and abroad; Relying on the Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line high-speed railway, he took the lead in compiling the world's first design code for 400 kilometers per hour high-speed railway "Interim Code for the Design of Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line High-speed Railway", established China's 400km/h high-speed railway technology and standard system for the first time, guided the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line high-speed railway and China's existing high-speed railway acceleration work, and promoted high-speed railway to higher speed.

General Secretary Xi Jinping once pointed out that high-speed railways and Chinese-made bullet trains are a bright business card of China. Higher standards of high-speed rail will further promote China's high-speed rail to the world, and as the country accelerates the pace of high-speed railway construction on the Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line, the world's faster high-speed rail technology development is about to usher in a new chapter. Xie Yi is the trendsoy of China Railway Second Institute leading the development of high-speed railway technology in the world and promoting the development of China's high-speed railway to a new journey.

In December 2020, the burden of the chief engineer of the Second Institute of China Railway fell on Xie Yi. Chengdu-Chongqing Railway, Chengdu-Kunming Railway, Sichuan-Tibet Railway... One project after another is in the annals of history. Over the past 70 years, several generations of engineers of the Second Academy have continued to struggle and pass on the torch, so that the heavenly graben can change the path, so that crossing mountains and rivers is not a dream, and making access to the river and the sea a reality. "Every step in this is the embodiment of several generations of people from the second institute of innovation relay again and again." Xie Yi said so and did so.

He optimized the organizational structure, promoted the establishment of the Chief Engineer Office, co-located with the Technology Center, played the role of the Chief Engineer team, and promoted business integration; Pay close attention to technical quality, establish and improve quality and safety red line library, design standardization and design interface rigidity; Strengthen informatization construction, promote information integration projects and digital intelligence upgrading projects, and accelerate the pace of informatization construction and digital transformation and upgrading; To promote scientific and technological innovation, the company won 2 national key special scientific research projects and 16 projects in 2021, with a fund of hundreds of millions of yuan, achieving a historic breakthrough; Attaching importance to the systematic training of technical talents, the company was awarded 2 national engineering survey and design masters and 19 provincial and ministerial experts in 2021, making a historic breakthrough.

Xie Yi said: "Innovation is the inexhaustible source of power for a nation's development and the fundamental guarantee for a country to stand firm in the tide of the world economy. "For a long time, China Railway Second Institute has vigorously implemented the strategy of revitalizing enterprises with science and technology, implemented the scientific and technological development policy of "independent innovation, key leapfrogging, supporting development, and leading the future", strengthened the main position of enterprise technological innovation, and played an important supporting role in the sustainable and rapid development of enterprises.
