But today we want to introduce not the world-famous goat breed, but a kind of inconspicuous but highly medicinal value goat, there are only more than 10,000 in the world, it is the yellow white goat, also affectionately called "locust goat". Now the purebred locust goats on the market are almost extinct, and most of them are Boer goat hybrids.
Sophora goats live in the middle and lower reaches of the Huai River, and studies have found that locust goats have been raised for thousands of years. Its reproductive ability is strong, the meat is delicate, the taste is extremely small, the taste is delicious, the nutritional value is high, it has a certain medicinal value and is loved by people, the locust goat can produce two litters a year, with the excellent fertility of one litter of multiple lambs, and the average locust goat can produce 6-8 lambs a year. However, the size of the locust goat is small, the growth rate is slow, and the average adult purebred locust goat weighs only about 50 kg, and the meat yield is low, the feeding cost is high, and the adaptability to the environment is extremely poor, which is not conducive to large-scale breeding.
In the 70s, in order to improve the efficiency of goat breeding, the local people crossed Boer goats with locust goats. Sophora goats, which used to grow only 50 kilograms, can now reach more than 100 kilograms. Everyone did the same after seeing the benefits. In just a few years, the native purebred locust goat has been replaced by the Boer goat, and over time, the hybrid locust goat no longer has the characteristics of strong reproductive ability.
In the 90s, purebred locust goats were no longer on the market. Only individual elderly people in remote rural areas still have feeding. But these old people only have something to do in their hands, in the name of "raising", not large-scale breeding, but also because these elderly people still retain the scarce breed of native locust goat.
Later, some relevant people learned about this phenomenon, and counted, purchased, and uniformly bred those few preserved locust goats, and established a Huanghuai goat breeding farm. Although the locust goats have been protected on a certain scale, but the locust goats are not conducive to captivity, these protected locust goats, 70% of the early stage are sick and died in the sheepfold, even after years of adaptation process, these sheep can not have the inherent characteristics of the locust goat, so that these goats are becoming fewer and fewer.
The reason why the locust goat is called the locust goat, as the name suggests, this sheep likes to eat the branches and leaves of the locust tree and gets its name. The locust tree, also known as the "national acacia", can be described as a treasure all over the body, and the leaves, branches, roots and horns of the locust tree can be used for medicine. Sophora goats live in the Huai River Valley, which is the junction of the north and the south, and there are many grasses, and various plants in the south and all kinds of plants in the north can grow and reproduce here.
As the saying goes, sheep eat herbs to cure all diseases. So many of these so-called grasses are wild Chinese herbal medicines. Therefore, since ancient times, the locust goats have all grown by eating hundred herbs, which is incomparable to all sheep. Although there are a large number of grasslands and pastoral areas in mainland Inner Mongolia and Qinghai, the forage is relatively monolithic and cannot be compared with the Huai River Basin.
In the market, large-scale captive goats are not worth mentioning, they are nothing more than feeding some pelleted feed, as well as corn or silage and other foods, their nutritional value and medicinal value can not be compared with locust goats. It is precisely because of this that a breeding ram of the high-quality locust goat is worth 3-100,000 yuan, plus there are currently less than 10,000 purebred locust goats in the world, resulting in the value of the local purebred locust goat.
How to raise locust goats is a difficult problem in front of everyone! If you want to raise purebred locust goats and reflect the value of locust goats, you can only return to the original growth environment and feeding mode of locust goats.
Bozhou, located in the Huaihe River Valley, is one of the four major pharmaceutical capitals of China. A variety of Chinese medicinal herbs are grown here, and the locust goat grows in this place, and there is currently the largest breeding farm for locust goats in the country.
In order to allow the locust goats to reproduce normally and reflect the value they should have, the locust goats here all implement the stocking model, and the grass in the grazing area is planted in proportion, which covers as many as dozens of traditional Chinese medicines such as mugwort, aconite, dandelion, and humulus, providing a diversity of feeding for the locust goats. In this way, the medicinal value of Sophora goats can be more reflected.
