In the corner of the leafy Montmartre cemetery in France, the mournful marble tomb of Alfonsina Plessi is the prototype of a love tragedy for which the French romantic writer Alexandre Dumas became obsessed with him and wrote the stunning La Traviata in 1948.
In the novel, the young and beautiful Marguerite is the bright corner of Paris, because she loves camellias, so people call her La Traviata, and the sincere love of young Armand touched Marguerite's silent heart, and she pawned a lot of property and eloped with Armand.
But the happiness was so short-lived, Armand's father approached Marguerite and said that if Marguerite did not leave Armand, his daughter would be dismissed.
"You believe I really love Armand."
"Yes".
"Do you believe it, my love for Armand is selfless".
"Yes".
"Do you believe it, my only dream is to get his love, my only hope, my only motivation in life".
"Yes".
"I can swear to you that he will definitely return to you..."
The grieving Marguerite left a letter of renunciation and returned to Paris, and the soulless Armand began to take revenge on Marguerite's betrayal, where Marguerite could stand such a stimulus, she wrote the truth of the matter in her diary, calling Armand's name to die.
Armand was too late when he learned the truth, and with infinite remorse and melancholy, he built a white marble tomb for Marguerite, and filled her grave with white camellias.
La Traviata was the first foreign novel to reach China, and most of those who read La Traviata had deep sympathy for Margaret, or some would read the line with melancholy: 'Occupying an unbeaten heart is like seizing an unguarded city'.
Alexandre Dumas always hit a wall before publishing La Traviata, and Alexandre Dumas suggested that he attach such a sentence when he submitted his article, I am Alexandre Dumas's son, but Dumas flatly refused, he stubbornly said that I want to have a real height, Dumas's insistence, led him to unprecedented heights, and some people even said that all of Dumas's works added up are not as good as Dumas's La Traviata, but Alexandre Dumas did not think at all, he said that my most proud work is Alexandre Dumas.
