Hong Kong, 25 Oct (China News Service) -- The Anniversary Forum and The Seventh Anniversary Celebration of seeing famous artists was held in Hong Kong on 25 October. Carrie Lam, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said in her speech that patriots from different backgrounds and different positions are welcome to actively participate in the upcoming Legislative Council elections of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The annual forum featured three discussion sessions in which experts from the political, business and academic circles exchanged views on the new political situation, new thinking and new economic dynamics, so as to take the pulse of Hong Kong's future development.
In her keynote speech, Carrie Lam mentioned that the 2021 Legislative Council election will accept nominations on the 30th of this month, and she welcomes patriots from different backgrounds and different positions to actively participate in the upcoming Legislative Council elections in the HONG Kong SAR. She looks forward to welcoming 90 MPs with diverse voices and the ability to govern in parliament next year to provide advice for Hong Kong's future development.
Carrie Lam also said that during her tenure, she experienced the impact of multiple elements such as the "storm of amendment" and the new crown epidemic, from which she saw that the source of Hong Kong's shortcomings and the problem lies in the fact that she did not fully grasp the true meaning of "one country, two systems" and did not walk on a correct "one country, two systems" road, and now needs to stand up and go again, and return to a correct path of "one country as the foundation and one country as the root".
Carrie Lam believes that with the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law and the improvement of the election system of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong has ushered in a good situation. She also believes that Hong Kong should take a long-term view, whether it is in urban planning, land development and housing construction, or the establishment of an international science and technology innovation center, it needs a long-term vision and realization.
Subsequently, the Secretary for Security of the HKSAR Government, Mr Tang Ping-keung, shared the theme of "New Political Situation". Tang Ping-keung pointed out that based on the incidents that endangered national security and the existing risks that occurred during the "Amendment Storm" in 2019, the completion of Article 23 of the Hong Kong Basic Law legislation is not only the constitutional responsibility of the HKSAR, but also a practical necessity.
