The world is being smoothed out

Urbanization is advancing, roads cross villages, bridges cross rivers, former indigenous peoples are driven away, primitive peoples are assimilated, and agglomeration villages are divided.

Supposedly cultural liberation quickly devoured ancient civilizations living deep in the jungle and in the mountains and wilderness. Despite their perseverance, they seem to be doomed by the tide of globalization.

In order to document these disappearing cultures, British photographer Jimmy Nelson took a 4×5 large-format camera to Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, New Zealand, Siberia and other regions, photographing more than 30 primitive tribes that were on the verge of disappearing, and documenting precious image cultural heritage.

Strictly speaking, this is not a set of journalistic non-fiction works, but a set of humanistic records of a rather typological nature. Jimmy's images are extremely tense, and the sense of style and ritual of various ethnic groups shown through the lens hits the depths of people's hearts - the world is being smoothed out, calling for a return to the origin of civilization.
