"Becoming a Secret Agent": "Homage" to Hollywood's decades of secret agent films

Tips: This article is a serious spoiler!

After watching the cartoon "Spies in Disguise", I sent a message to a friend - "Agent Transformation" is the best secret agent film I have seen this year, the most interesting cartoon.

Agents claims to be based on the 2009 animated short film Pigeon: Impossible, so I specifically looked at the 6-minute short. After watching "Dove in the Dove", I found "Becoming a Secret Agent" more interesting.

Briefly about the plot of "Dove in the Dove", an agent with a suitcase with a nuclear button is sitting on the street of Washington eating donuts, a pigeon is attracted to it, after some mistakes, the pigeon burrows into the suitcase and activates the nuclear button, and a nuclear bomb flies in the direction of Moscow...

If you want to sum up the common elements of "Dove In The Spy" and "Transformer Agent", it is nothing more than the following keywords: gluttonous pigeons, oolong agents, high-tech weapons, funny plots.

However, the 102-minute "Becoming Agent" is not a simple extension of "Agent of the Pigeon", "Becoming Agent" can be used as a screenwriting model, that is, how to make a creative idea really implement into a good script.

The key point in creating dramatic conflict and advancing the story in "Dove in the Dove" is the pigeon's gluttony, which is well inherited in "Becoming a Secret Agent", such as the scene in Venice's St. Mark's Square, Walter (voiced by Tom Holland) is using breadcrumbs to direct the pigeons throughout the square to fight the villains. In addition, in "Spy among Pigeons", because of the pigeon's gluttony, the start of the nuclear button suitcase was also continued in "Transformation Agent", and the little pigeon with the apple on his head "perfectly" reflected what is called crooked, creating a lot of conflicts in the film and promoting the development of the story very well.

The success of Agent Transformation also lies in the great addition of "Dove in The Dove", that is, the addition of the transformation setting - Walter makes a strange potion that turns Super Agent Lance (voiced by Will Smith) into a pigeon. It can be said that the most interesting part of this film all takes place after Lance becomes a pigeon, in which the intensity of laughter, the opening of the brain hole, and the speed of reversal are rare in popcorn movies in recent years.

Here we have to mention the film's double stars Will Smith and Tom Holland, this film is to some extent tailor-made for the two people, it is basically in line with the two people's personality or public image over the years - "Shi Huang" Will Smith's genius, "stinky fart", "Dutch brother" Tom Holland's kindness, small talk are vividly displayed in the film, so although "Becoming a Secret Agent" is only an animation, it is like the Early Hong Kong New Year film, the camera sweeps the face of which actor, The audience can guess what baggage he is shaking, and the audience is especially happy to see such a bridge.

"Becoming a Secret Agent": "Homage" to Hollywood's decades of secret agent films

The reason why I think "Becoming a Secret Agent" is the best secret agent film in recent years is that although it is also doing an old article, it is not conventional. If you want to sum up the characteristics of the 20 years of Hollywood secret agent films since the 21st century - that is, the story of the dusty protagonist who has tried his best to wash away the injustice - this may be a bit of a generalization, but whether it is "Mission Impossible", "007", "Spy Movies", or even the TV series "24 Hours", "Homeland Security", etc., as long as the protagonist is an agent, then his inevitable fate is to be framed and embark on the road of escape.

The starting point of this routine is certainly not "Mission Impossible", but "Atango" Tom Cruise has led this trend, starting from the "Mission Impossible 1" in the 1990s to the recent "Mission Impossible 6", playing a routine.

Obviously, Pigeon: Impossible is joking about Mission: Impossible, and the reason for choosing pigeons, I suspect (because I haven't seen any reports), may come from the rhymes of "Pigeon" and "Mission".

"Becoming a Secret Agent" further deconstructs hollywood's decades of secret agent movie routines, such as the villain's transfiguration, the criminal investigation unit inspection team, and the protagonist's last-minute transformation of danger. "Becoming a Secret Agent" adds a plot in which the protagonist becomes a pigeon, turning this absurd setting into the best satire of the Hollywood film industry. At that time, "Pigeon Spy" may have been an animal chosen by willow unintentionally, but in "Transformation Agent", it was "willow shade" - which made the pigeon's scene full and produced a strange chemical reaction.

"Becoming a Secret Agent": "Homage" to Hollywood's decades of secret agent films

Of course, "Becoming a Secret Agent" itself is not exempt from the vulgarity, and it is easy for me to guess that the film is going to the rhythm of the trilogy - such as what Lance did in Kyrgyzstan, or why Walter's mother died, and who will be the murderer?

In any case, "Becoming a Secret Agent" itself tells a very complete story, and incidentally "pays tribute" to decades of secret agent films. From the perspective of fans, in the opening of a Disney-released movie, it is inevitable to see the classic label of Twentieth Century Fox again.
