The movie "Children in Heaven" recently held a special screening in Beijing, and the lead actor Qingfeng and producer Zhao Lingbin came to the scene after the screening to communicate with the audience. As a film that pays attention to social topics and has a strong realist style, "Children in Heaven" was evaluated by the audience as "reflecting the hundreds of things in the world", and Zhao Lingbin, a post-95 producer, mentioned the difficulty of this small-budget film to be released, and choked up several times. Produced by Hu Mei and directed by Xu Lei, the film "Children in Heaven" is based on a true story, the film tells the story of Hai wa suffering from brain tumors, dying in life, according to the customs of the hometown, the name of the child who died prematurely can not enter the family tree, Hai Wa's father Lao He (played by Shi Qingfeng) learned that the name of the body donor will be inscribed on the monument, so he consulted with his wife Lingxia (played by Xu Huanxian) and decided to agree to the body donation with difficulty, so that there can be a place to engrave the name of Hai Wa. However, the process of body donation was full of twists and turns, and after the family went to the big hospital where the donation was made, it fell into the dilemma of "can't live, can't go back, can't donate", so that such a family is overwhelmed, and Lao He can only bear the unavoidable pain of losing his son and the life torment at the end of the child's life.
"Children of Heaven" presents the social topic of organ donation in a compact manner through the filming method of similar documentary-style long shots. The torture of life and death, money and human nature pokes at people's hearts, and the sorrow and entanglement of Lao He and Lingxia impact the audience. The film is profound in the ordinary, showing the struggles of ordinary people, full of touching true feelings, and many viewers still cannot calm their minds after watching the film.
Director Xu Lei won the Best Director Debut Award at the 42nd Montreal International Film Festival for directing the film; the film won the Best Debut Award at the 26th Beijing University Student Film Festival, while Xu Lei himself was nominated for best director; actor Shi Qingfeng and actress Xu Huanxian were nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at the 26th Beijing University Student Film Festival, respectively; the film also won the Best Director Award and the Best Actor Award at the 9th Golden Koala Chinese International Film Festival.
