A new species of straight-jawed moth was found in Nanshan, Hunan

On May 23, the Hunan Nanshan National Park Administration released news that a new species of straight-jawed moth was found in the jurisdiction. On June 27, 2020, a professor at Hunan Agricultural University found a special insect at the lamp-luring monitoring point, which was identified as an undocumented species of the family Maggotidae, and named it "Straight Jaw Cockroach Moth" after research, and published this result in the famous taxonomic journal Zootaxa on May 14, 2021. So far, the recorded species of the genus Moth in the family Mothidae in the world has risen from 7 to 8. The moth family is a rare taxon of lepidoptera insects, and its Chinese name was taken by the late Professor Yang Jikun, a famous entomologist in China.
