For the first time, Japanese blood ticks were intercepted at the Kunshan port in Jiangsu Province

On January 24, it was learned from the Medical Vector Biological Laboratory of Jiangsu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that ticks previously intercepted from Japanese containers by Kunshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau were identified by experts as Japanese blood ticks, which was the first time that Kunshan Port was intercepted. Quarantine personnel carried out strict sanitary treatment of the container and cargo in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

Quarantine personnel introduced, ticks commonly known as "lice", mostly to suck blood for a living, people by tick bites light local only erythema, heavy have obvious edematous erythema or papules, blisters, soft tick sting can sometimes cause tissue necrosis. Some ticks can inject nerve-numbing toxins from saliva (or ovaries) into the host while biting, causing "tick paralysis" and eventually death due to invasion of the respiratory center, especially in children. There are also many ticks that can cause "tick bite fever", and within a day or two after tick bites, symptoms such as chills, fever, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting appear. Ticks also carry many bacteria, causing important infectious diseases such as Russian spring and summer encephalitis, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, Q fever and other diseases.

The Kunshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminds the public to go out to play as little as possible to go to the grassy forest and avoid sitting in the wild for a long time. Wear long-sleeved shirts, tie belts, cuffs, pants legs, tie a towel around the neck, it is best to spray mosquito repellent on the surface of the skin, and bathe and change clothes when you return from going out to prevent ticks from being brought home. If a tick is found attached to the body, it should be removed immediately with tools such as forceps, and do not remove the tick directly by hand or crush it with your fingers.
