Lamarck, alias Swallowtail Zebra Fairy (Hong Kong), Rama Yan (Hong Kong). The Latin scientific name is Genicanthus lamarck. It is mainly distributed in the coral reef waters of the Indo-Western Pacific Ocean, including the Indo-Malay Peninsula region, east to Vanuatu (Vanuatu, southwest Pacific island countries), north to southern Japan, and south to the waters around the Great Barrier Reef. It belongs to the tropical climate zone. Its breeding method is scattered eggs. It is an omnivorous fish.

Lamarck Fairy is a rare fish species on the market, and the male and female fish are easy to distinguish, making them a good choice for friends who like to raise paired fairy fish.

The body is oval, the snout is blunt, the eye septum is slightly concave, the mouth is small, and the teeth of the jaws are pointed. The anterior orbital bone has 2 strong serrations, the posterior margin is free and deep, the posterior margin of the anterior gill cap is serrated, and the anterior nostril is rounded and smaller than the posterior ovate nostril.

The body is covered with large round scales , the head with odd fins is smaller , the lateral line is complete , but ends at the caudal stalk. The dorsal fin and fin are pointed at the end of the soft strip; the ventral fin is pointed, the first soft strip is elongated; the caudal fin is deeply concave, and the upper and lower edges are elongated like filaments. Adults are milky white with brown dorsal surfaces and 3-5 black longitudinal bands on the sides of the body. The dorsal fin is completely black except for the lower part of the soft stripe, and the remaining fin is milky white with small black spots except for the ventral fin. Like all species of the genus Lunar Butterfly, males and females of the Turkish fairy are distinguished by body color and pattern. The male has black ventral fins , black irregular markings on the gill lid , a bright yellow spot on the forehead , and no black bands on the upper and lower edges of the caudal fin. Females have a thick black band in the middle of the dorsal and side sides, with a white ventral fin and a black sideband on the upper and lower edges of the caudal fin.
