The building is unique, resembling a conjoined beacon tower, and the internal exhibition line resembles the undulating heights of the Great Wall Horse Road. The Great Wall is a miracle created by our ancestors with their hands. In my eyes, there was nothing else in the world that could compare to her. In my heart, the Great Wall is the soul, the Great Wall is the god, and the Great Wall is a foreign object. I think she represents "time and space", the so-called time, is spanning two thousand years; the so-called space, across thousands of miles! This feeling I have about it, as I come into contact with it more and more, becomes more subtle and indescribable. In any case, I don't think there is any need to use any flashy adjectives to prove its greatness.
In 1860, the famous German archaeologist Mr. Schliemann was greatly shaken when he was hiking on the Great Wall. He marveled at the Great Wall, saying that it seemed to be "the mythical creation of the giants before the Flood" and that it was "the most amazing work ever created by human hands." Such words of praise make people living here in our time proud and deeply ashamed.
But for the Great Wall, no praise can be overstated. As an ancient military defense system, in its construction process, it took the lead in using the most advanced technologies and tools at that time, and at the same time integrated various disciplines of science, such as architecture, military science, political science, geography, anthropology, meteorology, ethnology, philosophy... However, we are also often told in the media of appalling cases and amazed at the unprecedented destructive power of today's human beings to the natural environment. If nothing else, I saw the big trees on the edge of the Great Wall being cut down, the streams being gradually polluted until they were completely dried up, and I also saw sections of the Great Wall being flooded by sudden quicksand, and the beacon towers being trampled on by tourists who came to visit...
In fact, many photographers with conscience always try to express and share what is little known in the world. Photographs are figurative, intuitive, and not limited by language, writing, knowledge, etc., which can be called the best and most versatile way of communication. However, in the face of the Great Wall, I can only often blame my camera, my own hands and my own photos, and I did not expect and accept that the consequences of the spread and sharing of the beauty I captured and expressed were destruction!
I saw sections of the Great Wall being repaired. But the only function of simple and crude repair is to make the Great Wall lose its history and at the same time lose its soul! I just like to photograph the real, mutilated Great Wall that blends in with the natural environment. Because that is history, that is the language of beauty, that is the wealth left to us by our ancestors.
I was still on the Great Wall of Jiankou, and I saw our brothers and sisters hired by foreign friends at the expense of picking up garbage on the Great Wall and carrying them down the mountain. At that time, an indescribable state of mind made me think a lot. I especially want to borrow the treasure land of China National Geographic to appeal for two sentences: First, photographer friends, can you bring the most beautiful photos back from the Great Wall at the same time, and bring the film box and other garbage to the bottom of the mountain? Second, can the relevant parties choose a suitable address to build several observation decks that can enjoy the vicissitudes and magnificence of the Great Wall in the area of the Great Wall that has not been opened for tourism and has great ornamental value?
The Great Wall contains a strong will and great strength. In the embrace of the Great Wall, I have always felt my own smallness. No matter which angle I photographed the Great Wall from, I felt like I was looking up at it and worshipping it. When I come to a foreign country to show my Great Wall works, because the Great Wall gives me courage and self-confidence, a sense of pride like the children of the Great Wall will be purified in my heart and revealed in my jokes. At this time last year, I was invited to hold a photography exhibition of "The Great Wall – The Oldest Network" in the United States, and at the same time, I gave a special lecture on the theme. At the end of the lecture, an old professor who had watched my film festival 6 times came up to me and took my hand and said, "The Great Wall of China and your photographic art are incredible." I must go to China and see this great cultural heritage with my own eyes!
