Since September 25, 213 fishing boats in Miyun have been fishing around the clock, filling the cabin with fish and shrimp. Duan Xiaolong, 48, has not left the Miyun Reservoir since he started working in 1995. In 2011, Duan joined the Communist Party of China. I will steadily protect our Miyun Reservoir and ensure that the people of the capital can drink water with confidence."
Duan Xiaolong recalled that in the 90s of the last century, there were few law enforcement personnel, poor equipment, communication almost relied on shouting, and boats were mainly hand-cranked boats. At that time, the legal awareness of the fish thieves was very weak, and there were often violent cases of resistance to the law. Every April and May, law enforcement officers patrol the warehouse 24 hours a day to crack down on illegal electric fish. "At that time, it felt like the reservoir was too big, and sometimes it took days to walk, and it felt like I couldn't walk anywhere."
Today, the Miyun Reservoir Law Enforcement Brigade has established a three-in-one water retention work system of "civil air defense, material defense and technical defense", with face recognition, vehicle recognition, hundreds of cameras monitoring around the clock, as well as drones and unmanned ships to cooperate with law enforcement.
One year, a law enforcement drone captured a person who was fishing illegally in the reservoir area, and the law enforcement officer took the photo to the police station to check and find out which village it was. When the law enforcement officers came to the front, the offender was quite surprised, saying that he did not expect to be found hiding in such a secret place.
During the fishing season, law enforcement officers check fishermen for fishing licenses one by one, checking the size of the nets one by one. "All boats must inspect the mesh before launching, the mesh must reach more than 14.5 cm, and they must hold a fishing license, strictly implement the integration of personal documents, must use hand-cranked boats, and cannot attach any power units."

In recent years, the construction of reservoir law enforcement organizations has become more and more perfect.
In 2016, the Miyun Reservoir Management Office and eight departments involved in reservoir law enforcement formed a joint law enforcement brigade to be fully responsible for reservoir law enforcement. In 2018, the Miyun Reservoir Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade was established to uniformly exercise 131 water-related law enforcement powers involving the first-level protected area of the Miyun Reservoir by district-level departments. The entire comprehensive law enforcement team is composed of seven township detachments and one water detachment, the township detachment is responsible for water retention in the township area, and the water detachment is responsible for water retention work.
From 2018 to September this year, the Miyun Reservoir Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade investigated and dealt with 1,950 water-related violations.

Duan Xiaolong said that with the strengthening of water retention in Beijing and the continuous improvement of the water quality of the Miyun Reservoir, people's understanding of the Miyun Reservoir is also deepening. Many villagers along the reservoir have begun to participate in water conservation work. At present, more than 2,000 villagers around the reservoir have joined the water retention team.
