On November 1, Shanghai Cultural Square released the 2022 final performance season, deputy general manager Fei Yuanhong revealed that from December 17 to 18, Deng Jie, Ouyang Fenqiang and nearly 20 starring actors of the 87 version of "Dream of the Red Chamber" will appear at the commemorative concert, Zhang Guoli as a dream reciter to help, soprano singer Wu Bixia will also join hands with the Shanghai Opera House Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai National Orchestra on the stage. It is reported that Wang Liping, a famous composer and composer of the 87 version of "Dream of the Red Mansion", will also be at the scene.
On the day of the press conference, the performances of the year-end performance season were unveiled, and 37 performances on 6 stations, including the musical "The Orphan of Zhao", "The Count of Monte Cristo", "I'm Waiting for You at the End of Time", "The Mandala of the Tang Dynasty", and "Eternal Dream of the Red Mansion - The 35th Anniversary Concert of the 87th Edition of "Dream of the Red Mansion" and "The End of the World" - Selected Repertoire of the Three Treasures Musical", will be successively gathered in the Cultural Square from November this year to January next year.
Among them, the musical "The Orphan of Zhao" and "The Count of Monte Cristo" all focus on revenge stories.
"The Orphan of Zhao" is based on Ji Junxiang's original work and is based on James Fenton's play of the same name. Since its premiere at Culture Square in 2021, this original musical has received a lot of attention and heated discussion, and this time it will return to depict the soul of traditional culture with magnificent brushstrokes.
The Count of Monte Cristo premiered at the Moscow Operetta in 2008 and landed on the Cultural Square in 2012. After ten years, the Chinese version of "The Count of Monte Cristo" will land in the Cultural Square and be performed for 12 consecutive performances. The play specially invited the core creative team of the original Russian side to join, and the head of the musical troupe of Beijing Opera and Dance Theater and musical actor Ayunga served as the producer.
The musicals "I'm Waiting for You at the End of Time" and "The Mandala of the Tang Dynasty" are cross-border linkage with well-known IPs.
Ali Pictures movie "I'm Waiting for You at the End of Time" once achieved a box office of 550 million, and the musical of the same name was newly self-made by the drama label "Of course there is a drama", inviting actors such as Lin Yanjun, Aladdin, and Wang Hanyu to join. The play tells the story of a down-and-out writer and his characters who simultaneously "reverse time" and rewrite the ending of a long-forgotten relationship.
Coincidentally, the costume suspense-themed musical "The Mandala of the Tang Dynasty" is adapted from iQiyi's series of the same name "The Strange Story of the Tang Dynasty" series, which continues the prototype world view, character setting and spiritual core of the film and television version, but is independent of the original story system and unlocks exciting new cases.
