"No country can lack the Chinese market!" Professor Haili Turk of the Illinois Institute of Technology said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency a few days ago that the China International Import Expo plays an important role in promoting the development of the world economy.

The 5th CIIE will be held on November 5 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). CIIE is an important platform for enterprises from all countries to share development opportunities and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, attracting global merchants to actively participate. In the previous four CIIE, the number of American companies participating in the exhibition has always been in the forefront of the number of foreign exhibitors, and has continued to reach a new high. Last year, about 200 U.S. companies participated in the fourth CIIE.

CIIE has promoted a large number of exhibits of American companies to accelerate the transformation of exhibits into commodities in the Chinese market, bringing tangible development results to enterprises.

Honeywell, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in the United States, has been exhibiting continuously since the first CIIE. Yu Feng, president of Honeywell China, told reporters that Honeywell exhibited nearly 100 innovative technologies, products and solutions at the previous four CIIE, many of which have entered the Chinese market. CIIE is a "one-stop platform" for Honeywell to focus on displaying technologies and solutions, launching flagship innovative products, expanding investment in China and expanding partnerships, and "it is also a platform for 'beauty and beauty'".

Varian Medical Systems, a high-tech medical company founded in Silicon Valley in the United States, has also participated in the Expo for three consecutive years. The radiotherapy platform and proton therapy system exhibited by this company at previous CIIE have been used or are being installed in many hospitals in China. Zhang Xiao, senior vice president of the company and president of Greater China, said that the Expo demonstrated China's confidence and commitment to opening up to the outside world, and made the company firm in its belief in taking root in China's development.

Guo Mu, senior vice president of Herbalife Global and president of China of American nutrition company, told reporters that since the first Expo, Herbalife's sports nutrition series products have accelerated their entry into the Chinese market with the help of the huge attention of the exhibition, allowing enterprises to gain recognition from the market and confidence in China.

CIIE allows more and more American companies to better understand Chinese consumers, become more familiar with Chinese customers, and continuously expand new business.

Ding Hongyu, global senior vice president and president of China of 3M, a Fortune 500 company, told reporters that the company has participated in the Expo for five consecutive years, promoted products and services closer to China's market demand, and constantly opened up a way to share China's development dividends.

Daulanghe, a lifestyle platform owned by General Motors, will exhibit electric vehicles, electric utility sports vehicles and supercars at the fifth CIIE. Felix Weller, president of Daulanger, said that the Expo will allow companies to gain beneficial feedback from many Chinese consumers, which will help enterprises to explore the Chinese market a lot.

DoTERRA, which is engaged in the production and marketing of essential oils, is also an "old friend" of the Expo, and the booth area has gradually expanded from 9 square meters in the first session to 200 square meters in the fourth session. The essential oil products exhibited by this company at many CIIE are sold with Chinese elements. Owen Mesik, president of DoTELE China, sighed that it was the Expo that allowed the company to usher in a "golden period" of development.

CIIE has promoted many American companies to transform from exhibitors to investors, and constantly strengthen their confidence in cultivating the Chinese market and sharing China's development opportunities.

Varian's investment and construction of a production site in Beijing has become its most important production and R&D base in the world, and its products in China are shipped to more than 60 countries and regions. Taking the Expo as an opportunity, Honeywell reached a cooperation with the Wuhan municipal government to set up a local subsidiary in early 2020, reflecting its determination to long-term development in China.

Under the impetus of the Expo, Herbalife, DoTERRA and other enterprises have established laboratories, innovation centers, production centers in China...

Openness is a distinctive hallmark of contemporary China. Holding the Expo is a major decision made by China with an eye to promoting a new round of high-level opening up, and a major measure for China to take the initiative to open its market to the world. In the context of the century-old changes and the epidemic of the century, China's insistence on holding the Expo reflects the practical actions of promoting the construction of an open world economy and supporting economic globalization. The participation of a large number of American companies in the Expo is a vivid echo of China's proposition, Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions in the world.

As Turck said, China is an important promoter of economic globalization and "a defender of free trade and an open economy."
