"Because William and Kate felt it was not right to do so, and if there was a business connection, it would damage their position in the Royal Foundation."
Before Prince Harry met and married Meghan, he worked with his brother William and Kate at the Royal Foundation to remove the stigma surrounding mental health.
Meghan later joined the trio as the Duchess of Sussex, becoming the fourth patron of the Royal Foundation in 2018. The appearance of the foursome will be their only official charity event.
Just a year later, the two brothers, who founded the charity back in 2009, decided to split the Royal Foundation in 2019 due to rumours of a disagreement between the two couples.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex went on to establish their own charitable foundations, while the original charity was renamed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Royal Foundation.
Now, Meghan and Harry work on their own project at their mansion in Montecito, California.
While Meghan launched her prototype podcast, Harry is expected to publish his blockbuster book titled "Standby" on January 10, 2023, a move that could spark the wrath of the royals.
The comprehensive memoir, about Prince Harry's "accurate and completely true first-hand account of my life," will "criticise everyone and everything," according to the Daily Mail's royal editor, adding that the royals are "terrified of it".
