Three members of environmental groups have been arrested for trying to vandalize "Girl with a Pearl Earring."

At about 2 p.m. local time on October 27, three environmentalists tried to destroy Johannes Vermeer's famous painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring" at the Mauritais Palace in The Hague, Netherlands. Police said the three had been arrested for "violence against public property." They were wearing T-shirts marked "Just Stop Oil," with one gluing his head to the glass-covered painting and the other pouring a can of tomato soup on him. The museum said: "Experts have checked the condition of the painting. Fortunately, the masterpiece behind the glass was not damaged. "The painting will be put back in the gallery as soon as possible, but the space is temporarily closed to the public. The group is the one that previously conducted fossil fuel protests. Not long ago, two members of the British environmental organization Just Stop Oil poured tomato soup on Van Gogh's painting "Sunflowers" at the National Gallery.
