After Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin's world did not stop expanding. Here's a summary of all Game of Thrones spin-offs currently in development.

Three years after the finale aired, Game of Thrones is still a very popular TV series. HBO intends to use this popularity to produce more works based on the exciting novel created by George R.R. Martin.

While the first season of Family of Dragons just ended at OCS, many spin-offs are in development. We provide this short summary to find out where the future trip to Westeros will take you...

Dragon Family - Season 2

Based on George R.R. Martin's 2019 novel A Song of Ice and Fire, the series takes readers into the world of Targaryen's history, where Daenerys was born. It is worth mentioning that the Targaryens are famous for riding dragons and maintain purebred bloodlines through sibling intermarriage.

Set 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones, Dragon Family tells one of the most dramatic chapters of the period: the Targaryen Civil War, known as the Dance of Blood Dragons. A Song of Ice and Fire features many other families of Westeros, including the Starks and Lannisters, as well as the ancestors of popular figures such as Ned, Arya, Cersei, and Tyrion.

The first season aired on August 21 on the streaming platform OCS and received unanimous praise from the public and critics. The show was co-created by Ryan J. Condell and George R.R. Martin and has a luxurious cast: Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Emma d'Arcy...

The second season will begin filming in early 2023, and the release date has not yet been announced.

Here's the latest news from George R. R. Martin: HBO will launch a Jon Snow-centric TV series after Game of Thrones. Kit Harrington will once again take the lead role.

It is worth mentioning that at the end of the eighth and final season, Jon Snow (real name Aegon Targaryen) was the potential heir to the Iron Throne, but he chose to go into exile outside the walls. This series allows us to know more about his future, and there are some characters that are very much talked about, such as Arya or Sauvageons...

This series is still in the development stage.

"Duncan and Igo"

The project will be based on the book series Tales of Dunk & Egg (George r.r. Martin's short novel, The Story of Duncan and Iago is a series of short stories about Sir "Tall" Duncan and his entourage Iago (Aegon V), which took place 90 years before the Game of Thrones story.

The stories tell the adventures of the two characters, more gentle than in Game of Thrones, parallel to the mass conflict in Westeros. Such a project might be similar to the The Mandalorian series, and it gives us another perspective on the grand world constructed by Uncle Martin, which is just as interesting.

Directed by Steven Conrad (director of The Patriot), the first season will be based on the first book, The Wandering Knight. The series currently consists of three novels – The Wandering Knight, Sword Fight, and Dragon Egg, but Martin plans to complete at least six novels.

Game of Thrones spin-offs aren't exactly real-life TV series. It is reported that HBO is preparing at least two animated series about the world of George R.R. Martin.

One of the projects will focus on the Golden Empire of Ioti, an eastern territory located at the eastern end of Essos. Due to its distance from Westeros, this area is almost considered a myth, but it is reportedly a hotspot for the textile and spice trade.

In George R. R. Martin's world, this thousand-year-old extremely advanced empire, inspired by the Chinese empire, has endured periods of conflict and open war. This is an opportunity to open the horizons of Game of Thrones.

The other animation projects are still very secret and less detailed, and all we know is that one of them is supposed to be a dark and serious drama, the same tone as Game of Thrones.

Also in development, the spin-off revolves around the character of Corlys Velaryon, played by Steve Toussaint in Family of Dragons.

The character, nicknamed "Sea Serpent", has exciting potential, as in Game of Thrones he travels farther than anyone else in his own boat. Through this series, we can learn more about the continent of Essos in the southeast of Westeros, and even as far away as the distant lands of Eti.

The Sea Serpent, long known as the "Nine Voyages", is currently being developed by Bruno Heller (Rome, Gotham). There have been recent rumors that HBO has canceled the project, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Ten thousand ships

This is one of the most ambitious spin-offs of Game of Thrones: 10,000 Ships will tell the story of Princess Namelia, 1,000 years before the events of the original series.

To escape from the dragons of Varia, Namelia used ten thousand ships to take her people away from the homeland of Essos. Her travels took her to Dorne in southern Westeros, where she married Lord Morse Martel. In Game of Thrones, Oberlin (Pedro Pascal) is a descendant of the Martell family. Namelia is an important character in the Game of Thrones universe, and Arya Stark will name her she-wolf after her.

"Ten Thousand Ships" screenwriter Amanda Segal, currently in development, is the writer of "Person of Interest," "The Good Wife" and "The Mist." There have been recent rumors that HBO has canceled the project, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Flea Nest (Canceled)

The show hasn't entered the planning stage yet, and HBO canceled its development in 2021. Its place on this list is for informational purposes.

If the red dungeon, where the Targaryens, Baratheon and Lannisters live, is certainly the center of Westeros and its capital, Port Lille, then so far a series about a little-known area of the city is in the works: the flea nest.

The flea nest is one of the poorest areas in Port Lille, home to poor markets, robbers, brothels and prostitutes, as well as Varys' "birds". A pile of dilapidated houses, countless narrow alleys and chaotic places inhabited by a force different from that of the Red Dungeon, but no less important.

Celebrities such as Davos Mervault and Gendry Baratheon, who have lived here for years, will be a new opportunity to show a different side of Westeros, the capital and its residents. This series of projects has been officially cancelled.
