Recently, the "Youth Dream, Scientific Dream" biodiversity conservation expert series of lectures into Panlong District XinyingYi, Professor Xu Zhenghui of Southwest Forestry University, in a vivid and interesting way, told more than 100 students in the third to fifth grades of the scene "The Story of Ants". The lectures are wide-ranging and rich in content, and the interactive questions of the students are wonderful, and their interest in the research of such small creatures is even higher.

According to Professor Xu Zhenghui, Wilson, an ant scientist at Harvard University in the United States, estimates that there are about 20,000 species of ants living on the earth. As of April 30, 2021, antologists have named 13,910 species of ants. At present, in China, Xishuangbanna has recorded 326 species of ants, and only 15 species have been found in the Daxing'anling Mountains in the northeast, "Yunnan's unique geographical environment has created a living space for ants." Professor Xu introduced that ant life nesting also reflects biodiversity, they can nest in the soil, under the stones, on the trees, in the tree hole in many places, so for nature, the role of ants is very large, it can improve the soil, spread plant seeds, pollinate plants, control pests..... Of course, some ants can also sting people, endangering human health.
There are many common ants, but the names may not be known, including the yellow-footed short-legged ant, the Oriental Marching Ant, the Shi's Pan-belly Ant, the Hairless Concave Ant, the Mercer Ants, the Chinese Red Forest Ants, the Smithsian Red Ants, the Lyman Ants, the Deep Well Concave-headed Ants, etc. "Ants are also very interesting, they change their 'magic' differently." Teacher Xu also introduced a lot of interesting ants at the end, leaf-cutting ants will cut leaves, leaf weavers will spit silk like spiders to "weave leaves"... The more students listened, the more fascinated they became, and they said that the story of the ants really couldn't be told.
In the interactive session that followed, the newly welcomed children raised their hands enthusiastically, and everyone hoped to be named by Professor Xu to ask questions. Their questions were brain-opening and interesting, and the lecture became a large Q&A scene of "100,000 Whys".
