Nuclear power forgings are key components in the construction of nuclear power units. At that time, the manufacture of nuclear power forgings was an absolutely sophisticated technology in the world, and it was also a key technology urgently needed on the mainland.
"Built, we can not only break through the blockade, but also reduce costs and win the vast market!" Liu Boming and his co-workers are determined to contribute to supporting the backbone of China's manufacturing industry.
As a key part of supporting important national nuclear power projects, nuclear power forgings have a large tonnage, high quality requirements, and the manufacturing process is quite complex, from smelting, forging, heat treatment to machining, non-destructive testing, performance inspection... Every link that goes wrong will give up the previous achievements.
Liu Boming took more than a dozen people to eat and live in the unit and carried out technical research day and night. In the workshop of the hydraulic press forging plant, the maximum temperature in the heating furnace can reach 1250 degrees Celsius. Under the high temperature, Liu Boming often sweated, and one day after work, he found that he had lost several pounds of weight that day.
Kneading the dough to simulate the shape of the forging, calling the technician at two or three o'clock late at night to discuss the simulation results, repeatedly calculating the thickness and diameter of the slab... Liu Boming was "enchanted" and practiced the kung fu of "embroidery on iron" under the "company" of sparks and heat waves.
Finally, when the hammer fell for the last time, the huge hammer head precisely controlled every deformation of the forging, and the nuclear power forging was successfully forged at one time! Liu Boming and his co-workers pioneered synchronous deformation technology to fill the gap in the domestic industry.

Then came a period of triumphant songs. The world's largest 715 tons of million kilowatts of forging low-pressure rotor, "Hualong No. 1" main pump pump shell forgings, three generations of nuclear power steam generator water chamber head... With the production of one achievement after another, Liu Boming's team also explored the manufacturing technology of nuclear power forgings such as Liu Boming's non-synchronous footwork method and key point control method to ensure that the forging manufacturing is qualified once.
In recent years, Liu Boming's team has designed 86 innovative projects, and the research results have increased the cost of China by more than 200 million yuan. China's heavy manufacturing of forgings are exported to home and abroad, forging manufacturing level towards the forefront of the world.
2020 National Labor Model, 2019 "Big Country Craftsman of the Year" honorary title, the fifth batch of national post learning Lei Feng pacesetters... Over the years, honors have poured in. Liu Boming said that it is his urgent wish to cultivate craftsmen from big countries who will continue to struggle. Now, the "Liu Boming Skill Master Studio" will conduct regular business seminars, and "passing on the help" has become a common practice.
