On May 17th, the third "Shennongjia National Park Cup" bird watching competition (hereinafter referred to as the competition) came to an end, recording a total of 248 effective bird species, of which the black-throated singing plover and heterochromatic tree warbler were the new record species of birds in Hubei Province. On May 19, Yu Huiliang, vice president of the Shennongjia National Park Science Research Institute, told upstream reporters that perhaps a long time ago, the black-throated singing plover and heterochromatic tree warblers had been breeding in Shennongjia, but they had not been discovered by humans. This discovery means that the Hubei bird family has added two more members of the "new Ding".

Kang Zujie Yu Huiliang introduced that from May 13 to May 17, the competition was held, attracting nearly 140 people from 36 bird watching teams from 20 provinces across the country. According to the expert assessment, a total of 248 kinds of effective bird species of Shennongjia were recorded in this competition, including heterochromatic tree warbler, Yunnan willow warbler, pale eyebrow willow warbler, Emei willow warbler, black-throated singing plover, red-tailed singing plover, Ge's rock bunting, Sichuan short-winged warbler and other 8 kinds of shennongjia new recorded bird species, of which the black-throated singing plover and the heterochromatic tree warbler are the new record species of birds in Hubei Province. Public information shows that the black-throated singing plover, a national second-level protected animal, is a vulnerable species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. In 1891, two foreigners collected a specimen in Gansu, China, and named it the Black-throated Singing Plover; in May 2011, the first wild photograph of the Black-throated Singing Plover was published, which brought the threatened species worldwide attention; in June 2011, its breeding grounds were found in two national nature reserves in Foping and Changqing, Shaanxi Province, and seven male individuals were recorded. According to Yu Huiliang, based on the above-mentioned discovery history, the forestry department released that the black-throated singing plover is distributed in China in a narrow area adjacent to the three provinces of southern Shaanxi, southeastern Gansu and central and northern Sichuan, and was found in southeastern Yunnan and northern Thailand during migration. They are ready to report the discovery to the forestry department, and the distribution of the black-throated singing plover will be rewritten.
