Foreign youth hitch a ride on China's development "hitchhiker"

author:China Youth Network

"China, which has entered a new stage of development, is like a 'China Express' with stronger kinetic energy and greater load capacity, and is speeding up to new goals." We welcome all countries to work together to create prosperity. At this year's press conference of the two sessions of the National People's Congress, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi issued an invitation to friends from all over the world, inviting them to take the "free ride" of China's development and share China's development opportunities.

In the past decade, more and more young people from all over the world have been attracted to China's openness and inclusiveness, and have become witnesses, learners and disseminators of China's achievements in openness and inclusive development.

"I am accepted here"

In 2008, Kim Junbum, a young man from Seoul, South Korea, who had traveled to China alone after graduating from high school, quickly decided to apply to a university in Beijing. He did not expect that this decision would allow him to study and start a business in Haidian, Beijing, and he has been staying for 11 years so far.

Since studying at Peking University's Guanghua School of Management in 2013, Jin Junfan has been thinking about the issues related to entrepreneurship in China. When visiting the Haidian Entrepreneurship Park for overseas students in Beijing, he learned that the Ministry of Public Security of China introduced policies and measures to support the innovation and development of entry and exit in Beijing in 2016, and according to the relevant policies, Jin Junfan no longer needs to work for two years to get a "business visa". The "Working Mechanism of the Cluster Registration Platform in Haidian District (Trial)" issued in 2019 allowed him to solve the problems of enterprise registration, office space and settlement start-up funds.

In July 2019, Jin Junfan established Beijing Korean Peninsula Technology Co., Ltd., conducted entrepreneurship training for thousands of Chinese and Korean youth in the first year, docked with more than 40 Korean technology start-up companies, and cooperated with the Chinese and Korean governments on 13 online projects during the epidemic. "Starting a business in China is a very good choice because it's a place where everyone can be accommodated." Jin Junfan likes the meaning of the word "Rong", "There is an old Chinese saying, 'Hai Na Bai Chuan, There is Rong Nai Da', Peking University also has an inclusive tradition. In his view, his experience and development in China is precisely due to "Tolerance".

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK. "Affinity, sincerity, benefit and tolerance" is the outstanding concept of China's peripheral diplomacy work since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and the foreign policy of mutual learning among civilizations, tolerance and mutual understanding, and win-win cooperation has not only enabled China to develop relations with neighboring countries in an all-round way, but also enabled young people from neighboring countries like Jin Junfan to share China's development opportunities.

Haroon Hayat from Pakistan also hopes to start a business in China by taking advantage of the "Belt and Road" construction. Before coming to China in 2017 to study, Hailong ran a small steel company in Pakistan, and a friend of his father's who was engaged in The China-Pakistan trade attracted him to China. Over the past five years, at Chinese University and Tsinghua University, Hailong has studied with students from all over the world, "The cultural diversity here is beyond my imagination before, and it has benefited me a lot." Hailong said that China and Pakistan are hardcore friends, and the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" has made great achievements for young people from countries along the "Belt and Road" who have come to China to study like him. He has set his attention on the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and hopes to become a participant and beneficiary of the two countries jointly building the "Belt and Road".

An open China is attracting more and more foreign young people to study and work in China, and many of them use their own experiences to tell the world a more objective and open China development story, which will also provide strong intellectual support and talent reserves for the construction of the "Belt and Road". As Kim Jun-fan put it, he hopes that those who are prejudiced against China can change the wrong stereotype, "I am accepted here, and I also hope that more and more Chinese and South Korean youth can accept each other." ”

Bring the "dream of poverty alleviation" back to Uganda

Today's China is not only the China of China, but also the China of Asia and the China of the world. As President Xi Jinping said at the 2014 China International Friendship Conference and the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, "China will work with all countries in the world to promote the people of all countries to better realize their dreams in the process of realizing the Chinese dream." ”

"China has realized its millennium dream of poverty alleviation, and I hope to bring China's experience of poverty alleviation back to the motherland." In 2019, Sarah Marjorey Kisakye, a Ugandan girl, came to study at the Communication University of China with this dream. In 2021, Sarah and other foreign youth representatives traveled to Malipo and Jinpingdi in Yunnan Province to learn about poverty reduction and agricultural development. "Uganda has many tribes, China has many ethnic minorities, and the economic development of these places has historically been affected by war," Sarah said. Because of this, China's experience in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization is very worthy of Uganda's reference – this is also the original intention of my coming to China. ”

During that trip to Yunnan, the Jiaming Tea Garden Cooperative, an industrial park that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs helped to alleviate poverty in Malipo County, left a deep impression on Sarah. Sara learned that since the establishment of the park, it has generated 6 million yuan (about $930,000) of income for the community every year, successfully helped 235 surrounding families to lift themselves out of poverty, and some local farmers have also sold dendrobium, tea and other products through the Internet. On March 11, 2021, a story written by Sarace was published in New Vision, Uganda's largest newspaper. In her view, China has set an example for the vast number of African countries to learn from, "Some people may say that Africa lacks capital, technology and technology, and China initially did the same, but eventually succeeded in 'counterattacking'." I am confident that poverty reduction can also be achieved in all African countries, including Uganda. ”

At the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2021, when President Xi Jinping put forward the four-point proposal of building a China-Africa community of common destiny in the new era, he mentioned "sharing experience in poverty reduction and poverty alleviation" and announced that he would jointly implement the "Poverty Reduction and Benefit Agriculture Project" with African countries, reflecting the willingness and determination of China and Africa to deepen poverty reduction cooperation and achieve common development.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ukraine, and Sarah has never forgotten her original intention of coming to China, "to share my experience in China with Ugandan readers through news writing, so that they can understand China's development experience."

Play a leading role in addressing climate change

In order to find the answer to "how China's ecological environment has become better", Four years ago, Roberto Xavier Supe Tulcan, an Ecuadorian youth, applied to study in China for a doctorate, and this year he was studying at the State Key Laboratory of Water Environment Simulation at the School of Environment at Beijing Normal University. Hawen said that in the past few years in China, he has gained far more than professional knowledge, and the rich practical opportunities have allowed him to have a deeper understanding of the practical results of China's environmental governance.

"At first, you might think that (China's) countryside is underdeveloped and lacks resources; But when you're in it, that kind of thinking doesn't exist anymore. In an interview with a reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Network, Ha Wen repeatedly mentioned the Gusheng Village Science and Technology Courtyard that he visited when he participated in the "International Youth China Tour • Yunnan" activity not long ago. "The Science and Technology Institute has improved agricultural production efficiency through advanced technology, helped farmers increase their income, and achieved ecological protection through the analysis of agricultural pollution sources, setting an example for other areas with similar problems or the same goals." Knowing that the science and technology academy project will be built into an open and international platform in the future, Harvin has strengthened his idea of staying in China after graduation. "Ecuador is a small country with a complex natural environment," he said. I hope to have the opportunity to participate in the transformation of scientific research achievements in the projects of the Small Institute of Science and Technology, and later bring the experience I learned in China back to my country and become a person who has the ability to take charge of environmental governance projects. ”

Havin is well aware that in the past decade, China has actively participated in climate change negotiations, promoted the conclusion of the Paris Agreement through major country diplomacy and multilateral cooperation, and actively guided the follow-up negotiation process of the Paris Agreement. China has also taken concrete actions to promote and guide the establishment of a fair, reasonable, win-win global climate governance system. As State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a 2021 meeting with Spain's foreign minister: "China is a down-to-earth activist in dealing with climate change." ”

"I am very happy that China hopes to achieve carbon peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060." "China's philosophy and experience in environmental governance is not only good for China, but also for the whole world, because we are all in one community," Harvin said. China has 'sampled' global environmental governance, and there is no reason why countries should not 'copy their operations'. ”
