Antarctica, 98% of the land is covered with ice and snow, which is undoubtedly a cruel living environment for animals.
Not many animals have survived here, and the Weddell seal is the only mammal that lives off the shores of Antarctica.
This "uniqueness" also implies that it is not easy for them to survive:
The little seal in the picture, almost at the moment of birth, began to accept the challenge of survival.
As a mammal, after coming out of the mother's womb, it immediately fell into the ice and snow of minus 40 degrees Celsius.
The huge temperature difference is a natural test for its physical fitness.
Fortunately, there is still a mother who can protect it.
Female seals, who are guarding the cubs, use their bodies to shield their children from the wind and snow in the ice and snow.
If you're lucky, it should accompany the cub through the hardest 10 days of not being able to swim after birth.

Unfortunately, this little seal wasn't very lucky:
Three days after its birth, it encountered a brutal snowstorm.

The baby seals can only stay alone in the ice and snow, waiting for the wind and snow to pass.

Fortunately, after the storm passed, the baby seal was still alive:
Compared to other baby seals that have frozen to death, it is undoubtedly lucky.
At this time, the mother seal who saw the sudden snow and wind also poked her head out of the sea and called out to her cubs.
After surviving a disaster, the little seal that heard its mother's call, barked hard, responded, and followed her mother's voice forward.
Finally, mother and son got together.
The baby seal, encouraged by its mother, jumped into the water:
Compared with the cold wind on the road, the sea water at about minus 2 degrees Celsius is much warmer.

[Looking for cubs from the vast sea of geese, penguin parents are not easy]
Of course, Antarctica also has places that are not completely frozen by ice and snow, such as South Georgia in the Gulf of St. Andrews, where 500,000 emperor penguins live.
Spring is the season when the emperor penguins of mom and dad take turns to go out to forage for food, leaving the baby penguins on their own on the island for several days.
In order to allow parents to forage back to find themselves accurately, baby penguins will always stay in the position when their parents left, waiting for their parents to come back and feed.

Childhood being fed by parents may be happy for cubs, but it is difficult for parents.
Like the emperor penguins, the Papua penguins go out to forage and come back to feed their cubs:
They are swimmers who can reach a speed of 35 kilometers per hour, the fastest penguins in the sea, and adult Papua penguins swim 80 kilometers a day.
But the fastest among penguins does not mean the fastest in the sea:
In the ocean, there are killer whales that are faster than it, chasing and hunting Papua penguins.

An adult penguin, while rushing back to feed its cubs, was targeted by four killer whales.
Killer whales are faster, larger, and more numerous.
In order to escape, it can only maximize its agility and try to swim out of a way to survive.
Unfortunately, under the round-up of the four killer whales, the penguin still could not escape.
However, most penguin parents are lucky enough to return to shore after foraging and feeding their cubs.
The cubs will grow up quickly under the care of their parents.

However, because of climate change, the path to adulthood of little penguins is becoming more and more difficult:
The glaciers in this area are melting in large quantities, and there are a lot of ice floes in the bay,

If you don't go into the water, if you don't eat on the shore, you may starve to death;

Despite the dangers, the little penguins still have to rush forward, trying to reach the icebergs in the distance and live in the wider seas.
In such an environment, the little penguins became the food at hand of leopard-shaped seals:
Ice cubes are everywhere on the surface of the sea, let the little penguins go, swim is not,
But for foraging leopard seals, it is an excellent hunting environment.
The little penguins can't tell when the seals under the ice floes will jump up, and can only rely on luck to dodge the raid....
Some penguins are forced to retreat back to shore at a rapid pace, but this is not a long-term solution.
After gathering enough courage, another little penguin returned to the sea:
The seal immediately caught up with it, catching up with it in two or three strokes.
The little penguin has no choice, can only walk and swim, desperately running...
Because of the disparity in power and environmental superiority, the seals soon came under the little penguins.
But the seals seemed to deliberately tease their prey, and did not bite.
The little penguin did not have time to see where the seal was, only to swim forward desperately, shortening the distance from a large piece of ice floes in front of it.
Finally, taking advantage of the moment when the seal teased it, the little penguin swam to the edge of the ice floes, jumped hard, and landed!
This ice floes is already close to leaving the wide sea, but unfortunately, after such an off-road escape, the little penguins are exhausted.
Its opponent, the leopard-shaped seal, did not hesitate to rush onto the ice floes.
The little penguin, who has nowhere to escape, can only roar desperately at the seals that come ashore.
Surprisingly, the seal, which had already won the victory, finally gave up the prey:
After roaring for a while, it returned to the sea.

This is the cruelty of Antarctica, which is dangerous everywhere, even with parental care.

The gray-headed albatross, only four weeks old, was the only "only child" his parents had had in two years.

But in fact, at this moment, its albatross baby is in the lower right of its nest.

Yes, albatrosses do not identify their cubs by hearing, sight or smell, but by nests:

The colorful and diverse marine life of Antarctica is strange from the outside.
For example, sea slugs that are snow-white, hermaphrodite, but have extremely poor vision and are struggling to find a mate.
For example, anemones that take root in the seabed and prey on floating food in the ocean by their tentacles.
