There are more mutant powers in the Marvel universe than you might think. Some supermos can read minds, fly, teleport, and turn into banana ice cream.

But one of the most interesting powers possessed by some mutants is slowing down aging, which makes one's life far beyond that of ordinary humans. Wolverine is the most famous mutant of this ability, as he is the only X-Men older than your great-grandfather.

Some have redefined the term "older". We are talking about mutants who have witnessed the founding and collapse of more than a dozen civilizations. For some, the phrase "older than a mountain" is more than just an expression. And there are rumors that one or two mutants are very old, and they predate the entire human society.

But the big question is, which mutant has been around the longest?

10. Old Man Logan (Wolverine) - 190+ years old

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

Born into an aristocratic family in Canada in the 1880s, James Howlett was a happy child until his stepfather was murdered by his biological father, Thomas Logan. This trauma triggered James's mutation, which led him to pierce his father with his newly grown bone claws. Wolverine's life started so horribly that you can safely assume that he will never experience anything worse.

Sadly, Logan's life was marked only by tragedy. After living for more than a century, Wolvie may have lost more loved ones than anyone else in the Marvel Universe — some of them in his own hands.

Because the Canadian superhero was born in the 19th century, he is at least 140 years old. But in recent years, comics have followed Logan the Wolverine Sr. from a parallel universe, taking place over the next 50 years, meaning he's been for nearly two centuries.

After this incarnation of Logan is teleported to the regular Marvel universe and timeline, he goes to great lengths to prevent his apocalyptic future from happening. When he realizes he's in a different past, Logan decides to stay and help the X-Men on their mission for world peace.

9. Exodus - more than 900 years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

After fighting in the Crusades of the 12th century, Bennet du Paris was hailed as a great warrior. Despite his admiration, the French aristocrat always felt different (and not just because he was born with dark red skin). For as long as he could remember, Du Parris thought he possessed some kind of secret power that he could not access.

When he encounters the Apocalypse in the storyline of Black Knight: Exodus, a giant mutant attacks Du Parris with a deadly force, activating his mutant abilities. Apocalypse explains to Du Parris that he deliberately convinces him that he is in mortal danger because he knows it will unleash his power.

Du Parris felt that he was in debt to the apocalypse and agreed to serve as his servant, Exodus. After the Apocalypse brought him under his command, the dark instigator strengthened the power of Exodus and made him immortal. However, when the French mutant realized that the Apocalypse intended to destroy civilization, he severed ties with his benefactors and opened his own path.

Over the years, Exodus has clashed with the X-Men on several occasions, both as an ally and a villain. But because he has stopped aging and can recover from any wound, it is safe to say that he will live a long time.

8. Azazel - 2,500 years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

Nightcrawler's father, Azazel, is a demon-looking mutant with a range of abilities including teleportation, paralysis bolts, morphing, and immortality. Because of his appearance, he was labeled a demon by an angelic mutant known as Cheyarafim, leading to his banishment and his kind to the Sulphur Dimension.

Although Aazel escaped using his teleportation powers, he knew he would be destined to enter the sulfur dimension in a day or two. In order to get rid of his imprisonment forever, the scarlet-skinned mutants impregnated the women, and then they gave birth to mutants with teleportation powers.

Using his own children as a medium, Asazel eventually freed himself from confinement, wreaking havoc on the world. He even claimed to have fought Mephisto to earn the title of "Satan." But because Azazel is a proven liar, it's hard to say how much of it is true in his words, which means we can't be sure of his age.

7. Revelation - 5,000 years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

Without mentioning him, one cannot talk about the ancient mutants, the Apocalypse. After all, he was the oldest mutant.

Although Apocalypse is not the oldest mutant, he is definitely a genocidal lunatic.

Born in Jordan 5,000 years ago, Noor was abandoned by his parents because of his strange appearance. When he was young, he discovered a celestial spaceship and used its advanced technology to enhance his powers, turning himself into a god called the Apocalypse. Now seeing himself as a savior, Apocalypse believes he must weed out the weak and protect the world for the strong.

Although almost every superhero has fought him for thousands of years, no one has been able to defeat him permanently. When he was badly injured, Apocalypse went into a coma, repairing all the wounds on his body. This process can take years or even centuries, but don't get me wrong, the apocalypse will always come back.

6. Forever Man – 5,500 years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

The eternal man is a mutant born thousands of years ago, capable of being resurrected immediately after he is killed.

Because he had a hard time remembering his past life, it was difficult to measure his exact age. However, he was nearby at the dawn of the ancient Egyptian dynasty, which means he was nearly 6,000 years old. But if his claim that he "lived more than 10,000 lives" is accurate, he may be much older.

When technology came to life in the 1920s when it roared, Forever Man had a hard time adapting to society. After trying to lead a movement that embraces the past, he inadvertently radicalizes a man named Turner D. Century, turning him into a technology-breaking supervillain.

Decades later, when Forever Man tried to encourage humans not to rely on technology, he accidentally deleted the United States.

Tired of his failures, the eternal man hopes that he can end his eternal suffering by throwing himself into the sun. Instead, it caused him to die again and again until he evolved into a solar creature. He returns to Earth and wreaks havoc wildly before being defeated by the Avengers.

5. External factors - 10,000 years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

The Externals are an ancient race of mutants who manipulate society for their own benefit. Although there are nine members, the main ones are Nicodemus and Saul. Their exact ages cannot be determined, but they witnessed the collapse of Siberian civilization, meaning they were at least 10,000 years old.

They may have been much older because Nicodemus said he was "as old as the mountains of Switzerland," while Saul claimed that the continent would shake when it formed in his lifetime.

4. Gaia - 17,000 years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

Gaia (unrelated to the mother goddess Gaia) is a mutant with immortality, psychic movement, energy manipulation, and near-impeccable.

With little known about her origins, she is considered one of the most mysterious mutants in the world. She's a mystery, and the X-Men aren't sure if she's human, alien, or hyperdimensional. The only specific thing about Gaia is that she is at least 17,000 years old.

Thousands of years ago, Gaia learned of an ancient machine called the Universal Fusion, which was designed to fuse all living things into one super-living organism. Fearing that some vicious entity would use the device to unleash endless destruction, Gaia guided the Fusion for thousands of years. When Mutant Squad X destroys the machine, Gaia is freed from imprisonment and joins the squad. )

When she attended Xavier Gifted Junior School, she conducted research to understand what happened in the world during her time at The Fusion. Over time, she left school to travel, believing that it was better to learn about the world through experience than to learn about it in books.

3. Selene Gallio - 17,000 years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

Born in the 15th century BC, Selene is one of the oldest creatures on Earth. Possessing a range of abilities including telepathy, fire, hypnosis, and astral projection, Selene is also considered one of the most dangerous supervillains in the world.

Despite her youthful appearance, this insidious vampire does get old. When she uses her powers, she also ages faster. However, she calls herself the Moon Goddess and is able to avoid death by stealing the life force of her victims.

Since she predates much of human history, it's no surprise to learn that Selene witnessed many important moments. During her lifetime, she witnessed the sea engulfing Atlantis, the fall of Rome, and the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

Although Selene was killed many times, this evil witch could resurrect herself indefinitely.

2. Miss Phoenix - a million years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

At the beginning of the birth of mankind, a cave woman named Fire Hair was abandoned by her parents because they thought her red hair was a harbinger. With no one else to turn to, Firefoot was forced to survive by hunting with a pack of wolves throughout his childhood.

But when she was a teenager, everything changed with her telepathy and telepathy. Although she was initially terrified of her power, she was accepted by other mutants who persuaded her to believe that her power could be used permanently. Unfortunately, she couldn't control his power and inadvertently killed her tribe.

Out of shame, she screamed and prayed to God to free her from her pain. Hearing her call, the Power of the Phoenix came to Earth, possessed the girl, and turned the Fire Hair into the Phoenix Goddess, the fire goddess's first earth host.

Phoenix's dark nature almost completely devoured the fire hair, forcing her to destroy the world. But after seeing the wolf that raised her from infancy, Fire hair is able to extinguish the phoenix's dark nature and repurpose its power to protect humans. Soon after, she joined the world's first super team, popularly known as the "Avengers One Million.".

1. Obliterator - 5 billion years

X-Men: The 10 oldest mutants

It's easy to forget that mutants aren't unique to Earth. There are many aliens with active X genes, including Warlock, Longshot, and Ariel.

The oldest mutants in the universe happen to be aliens who predate Earth itself. When Maht Pacle discovers that he is a mutant with immortal powers, he sees himself as a god and celebrates with a mad murder.

Due to his ruthless bloodlust, Macht, now claiming to be the Annihilator, ended up killing all the creatures in his hometown. Not satisfied, he ventured into space in search of other worlds to conquer.

He eventually stumbled upon a group called The Elders of the Universe, which included masters and collectors. This group shares a primal energy that gives them eternal life.

The Perisher, who is also immortal, welcomes him to join them. They also gave him a sample of Yuan Qi, which magnified his strength even more. Now considered the personal exterminator of the Elders, the Obliterator is often considered the most dangerous mutant – and the oldest mutant – in existence.
