Silk Road New Observation All Media and the Uzbekistan Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the "China Enterprise Tour • SCO Samarkand Summit Special Edition" series of reports on the eve of the SCO Summit, and this article is the third article.

How has Huawei become a place that young people in Uzbekistan yearn for?

"Our school and the Huawei office building are only separated by one street, and every time I pass by the Huawei office building during school, I am curious about what the people working here are doing. Occasionally, I hear friends who are majoring in communication technology talking about the idea of working at Huawei after graduation. This curiosity drove me to learn more about Huawei, so I also had the idea of working at Huawei. Miao Ruoyu (An Uzumaki), a new employee of the Public Relations Department of the Representative Office of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Huawei) Uzbekistan (hereinafter referred to as Huawei), told reporters with slight excitement.

Make technology accessible to everyone

"Huawei has been operating in Uzbekistan since 1999, and this is the second representative office opened in the CIS country. At present, Huawei's Representative Office in Uzbekistan has developed into Huawei's largest technology and service support center in Central Asia, covering the vast Eurasian region from Mongolia to Azerbaijan. Chen Jiakai, general manager of Huawei's Ukrainian representative office, introduced.

Chen Jiakai said that since the first few years of entering the Ukrainian market, Huawei has begun to establish cooperative relations with local telecom operators to provide network communication equipment. Up to now, Huawei's business in Uzbekistan has expanded to governments and enterprises, providing information communication and digital solutions for large enterprises and state institutions. Personal and home business, providing consumers with smart devices and wearable devices, etc.; Finally, there are the cloud services and energy businesses that have emerged in recent years.

It is reported that at present, Huawei's representative office in Uzbekistan has more than 300 employees, of which 70% are local employees. The company has long been committed to promoting the professional development and career growth of employees, supporting the cultivation of young talents in the Internet field and the improvement of information and communication skills.

If you open huawei's official website, you will find that the company's introduction writes such a paragraph: Huawei is committed to bringing the digital world into everyone, every family, and every organization, and building a smart world where everything is interconnected: let the ubiquitous connection become the equal right of everyone...

In fact, Huawei's development in Uzbekistan for more than 20 years is based on this concept. From landlines to mobile devices, from the 2G era to the 5G era, Huawei has always been involved in it and plays an irreplaceable role. In 2019, a new generation of 5G technology was introduced and successfully tested in Uzbekistan, and three Uzbekistan operators have completed commercial pilots of 5G networks. Huawei's 5G equipment has won the favor of customers for its excellent performance. Nabieva, head of the public relations department of Huawei's Uzbekistan representative office, said that the communication network solutions we provide to customers in remote areas have contributed to the popularization of communication networks in Uzbekistan with low-cost and high-quality services.

It is reported that within the framework of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" cooperation, the Export-Import Bank of China has provided a preferential loan of 150 million US dollars to Uzbekistan, mainly for upgrading the country's communication equipment and expanding the mobile operator service network. In August 2021, with the active support of many parties, the financing agreement was finally signed and came into effect. Huawei will actively participate in this work together with Ukrainian operators.

In the office building of the Huawei Representative Office in Ukraine, there is a Customer Solution Innovation and Integration Experience Center (exhibition hall) on the first floor, which is open to Huawei's customers, industry experts, and students for on-site education, testing, and digital skills improvement.

Nabieva said: "Since 2016, there have been quite a few students who have come to visit the exhibition hall and are curious about various equipment and technologies. I believe that after each visit, a seed is planted in the hearts of some people who may become talents in this field in the future. ”

We are going in the same direction as the development of Uzbekistan

In recent years, the Ukrainian government has put forward a digital development strategy, promoted the digital reform of the government and public utilities, and increased the proportion of information, communication and network technology in economic development. As a leading global supplier of information and communication infrastructure and smart terminals, Huawei is actively involved in it.

According to Chen Jiakai, Huawei actively participates in the construction of its national data center in Uzbekistan and builds its "digital brain" for the digital transformation of the Ukrainian government. The construction of the data center will be completed in September 2022, when the leaders of the Ukrainian government will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Chen Jiakai said: "The green energy business is a new business direction that Huawei is actively expanding in Uzbekistan. This is not only in line with president Ukraine's vision of developing green energy, but also provides a platform for Huawei to show its technological advantages in the field of digital energy. Huawei has more than 15 years of technology accumulation in the research and development of solar inverters, which is in a leading position in the world. ”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Huawei actively cooperated with the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan to provide thermal imaging cameras and video conferencing systems for Tashkent Airport, assist hospitals in deploying telemedicine equipment, and achieve rapid connections with Chinese doctors.

Education and environmental protection bring temperature to science and technology

In the course of 23 years of operation in Uzbekistan, Huawei has always attached importance to the cultivation of talents. This includes not only the training of the company's employees, but also the upskilling of mobile operator employees, young talents in the Internet industry and the field of information and communication.

Nabieva said: "Huawei holds a global education program 'Seeds for the Future' every year. This year marks the eighth time the project has been held in Uzbekistan. In the past seven years, 50 Uzbek students have gone to China for internships through the program. Due to the pandemic, the project was forced to take place online, which also provided training opportunities for more students. Over the past two years, 54 students from various regions of Uzbekistan have been trained at the Ukrainian representative office and participated in online courses at Huawei's headquarters. ”

In addition, based on the concept of providing qualified education for all, Huawei has provided distance learning equipment for three schools in Uzbekistan and set up scholarships to support students to learn Chinese, providing them with broad employment opportunities.

According to Nabieva, Huawei actively uses its technological advantages to participate in environmental protection and climate change in Uzbekistan, and in 2020, Huawei launched the "Green Uzbekistan" initiative in Uzbekistan and joined the "Green Aral Sea" project of the Environmental Development Agency of Uzbekistan. In the three years of cooperation, Huawei has provided the cost of planting 40,000 shuttle trees in the Aral Sea region.

At the same time, in 2021, Huawei and the Tashkent University of Water Conservancy and Agricultural Machinery Engineering in Uzbekistan jointly realized a "smart" agricultural project based on 5G applications. The project uses 5G technology to make a positive demonstration to improve production efficiency and reduce resource consumption. The pilot project has become a research demonstration point for agricultural enterprises, experts and students of related majors.

Nabieva has been working for Huawei's representative office in Uzbekistan for 16 years, and this is her first job. She said that for more than a decade, huawei has brought her the biggest feeling that there are dreams here, and there are a group of people who are willing to fight for their dreams.

There is such a sentence in the canteen of Huawei's Ukrainian representative office: "Heavy heroes, 'food' heroes", perhaps it is precisely by virtue of the cultivation and love of talents that Huawei can climb one peak after another in the field of science and technology.
