Meet This Year’s Gorilla Naming Guests
On Friday, September 2, 2022, guests, heads of government and world champions invited to name this year's newborn mountain gorillas will gather in Rwanda's Mustanze district.
Meet this year’s Gorilla naming distinguished guests, leaders and champions who will give names to new-born baby gorillas this Friday, 2 September 2022 in Musanze district.
This year marks the 18th year of the naming ceremony for newborn mountain gorillas.
This year marks the 18th edition of Kwita Izina, a ceremony that marks the naming of new born babies.
The celebration will take place at Kinigi in Volcanoes National Park, where invited guests will celebrate the conservation of nature alongside the surrounding communities of Volcanoes National Park, endangered mountain gorilla homes, rangers, trackers, researchers and friends from around the world.
Held in Kinigi at the foothills of Volcanoes National Park, the namers will join communities living around Volcanoes National Park, the home of the endangered mountain gorillas, as well as rangers, trackers, researchers and friends from around the world to celebrate nature and conservation.
The 20 baby gorillas to be named this year are members of the Noheli, Musilikali, Ntambara, Mutobo, Igisha, Susa, Kureba, Pablo, Sabyinyo, Muhoza, Amahoro and Hirwa families.
