The Czech company Excalibur Army recently demonstrated a prototype of the Morana wheeled self-propelled howitzer at the Sartoli Defense Exhibition in Europe.
The gun featured The 8×8 chassis of Tethora, a 52 mm gun with a 52-caliber barrel mounted in the armored turret, and a fully automatic control system. After the occupants stop, there is no need to leave the armored cockpit, and the firing preparation can be completed within 40 seconds, including gun aiming and ammunition loading. The turret has a modular design and can also be mounted on other chassis, including tracked chassis.
The whole vehicle is equipped with a self-diagnostic system, which can record various status parameters and fault data of the vehicle system and display them on the various displays of the vehicle. It can also be sent to superiors as needed to assess combat capabilities and plan logistical support. Fault data archiving is also beneficial for maintenance assurance.
