After more than ten days of hard work, the residential property finally successfully captured the crocodile eel in the viewing pool. It is about 60 centimeters long and weighs about 3 kilograms.
Crocodile eels have also been recorded in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Sichuan and other provinces in the past few years. Native to North America, the alligator eel is a freshwater giant carnivorous fish that generally grows up to 1.5 meters in length. The mouth is "pointed", the mouth is densely covered with sharp teeth, and the whole body is covered with scales. For China, it is an exotic species, and once it is placed in natural waters, it will bring disaster to the water ecosystem. As long as there is a living thing in the water, it is almost all-consuming.

The reporter saw on a shopping platform that there are many sellers who are selling crocodile eels, and some also typed the words "exotic species, prohibited from being released" on the picture. In fact, since its release in 2003, the List of Invasive Alien Species in China has been released in four batches, with a total of 71 species, and the crocodile eel has not yet been included in the list. In January last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and five other departments jointly issued the "Work Plan for Further Strengthening the Prevention and Control of Alien Species Invasion", which mentioned that it is necessary to "strengthen the supervision of the breeding of aquatic alien species and promote the comprehensive management of aquatic invasive alien species such as water hyacinth, Fushou snail and crocodile eel." ”
Nowadays, some people have bought crocodile eels freshly for a while, but once the freshness has passed, or the small tank at home cannot be put down, they choose to release or discard. Experts said that if you really can't afford to raise it or don't want to raise it, you need to send it to the relevant departments, and you will never allow it to be released or discarded in the wild.
Ren Dapeng, Professor of China Agricultural University: Article 81 of the Biosecurity Law specifically stipulates strict legal liability, and clarifies that those who release or discard alien species without approval shall be fined between 10,000 and 50,000 yuan.
