The 19th Global Conference on Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification of Overseas Chinese and Ethnic Chinese has helped deepen the overseas anti-"independence" and reunification movements

Beijing, 27 Aug (China News Network) -- For a long time, in order to oppose "Taiwan independence," "Tibet independence," "East Turkistan," and all other separatist forces and safeguard the core interests of the motherland, Compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and overseas Chinese compatriots have set up more than 200 unification promotion associations or similar organizations in more than 100 countries and regions around the world. The movement to promote reunification has been carried out in depth and has had a wide impact at home and abroad.

In 2022, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the "1992 Consensus", the 20th Global Conference on Promoting The Peaceful Reunification of China by Overseas Chinese and Ethnic Chinese will be held in Sichuan in the near future. As the congress approaches, let us review the course of the global anti-"independence" and promote reunification conference together, and feel the sincere patriotic feelings of the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation.

1. Congress of Berlin

Date: 26-27 August 2000

Location: Berlin, Germany

The conference was hosted by the European Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, and more than 600 people from more than 60 countries in the world attended the conference, including representatives of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese, Chinese mainland, and representatives from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. The two honorary chairmen of the congress,--Wan Guoquan, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, chairman of the presidium of the Central Deliberation Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, former responsible person of Taiwan's legislative body, and president of the Association for Promoting Peaceful Reunification Across the Taiwan Strait—Liang Surong; Zhang Manxin, chairman of the congress; and Liu Zepeng, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and Lu Akita, Chinese ambassador to Germany, who were special guests of the conference, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. In line with the purpose of the conference to promote the development of cross-strait relations and promote China's peaceful reunification, the participants published 217 papers and held heated discussions on three topics, including promoting the development of cross-strait relations under the one-China principle, cross-strait economic, trade, and cultural exchanges and cooperation, and the role of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese in promoting China's peaceful reunification, and reached a broad consensus.

2. Washington Congress

Date: 25-26 November 2000

Location: Washington, U.S

The congress is only 3 months away from the Berlin congress, and the gap between the two meetings is so short, mainly because after Chen Shui-bian took office as the leader of the Taiwan region, the "Taiwan independence" on the island was arrogant and arrogant, and the perverse behavior of the "Taiwan independence" elements aroused the public indignation of all the sons and daughters of china, including overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese, who hoped to send out a just voice of resolutely opposing "Taiwan independence" and safeguarding national reunification through the convening of the congress. The conference was initiated by the Global Chinese Alliance against "independence" and promoting reunification in the United States, with more than 500 representatives of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese from more than 40 countries and regions attending the conference, and Chinese Ambassador to the United States Li Zhaoxing attending the opening ceremony as a special guest, and holding a reception at the embassy, and delivering speeches three times. The main purpose of this conference is: Overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world oppose "Taiwan independence," adhere to the one-China principle, promote China's peaceful reunification, and oppose US arms sales to Taiwan. The Conference was presided over by 70 representatives, and more than 70 delegates made statements around the keynote. Under the presidency of Chairman Cheng Junfu, the conference adopted the "Global Declaration on Opposing 'Independence' and Promoting Reunification," expressing the just stand of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese strongly opposing "Taiwan independence."

3. Tokyo Conference

Date: 16-17 July 2001

Location: Tokyo, Japan

The conference was held shortly after Beijing won the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games, hosted by the Japan Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China and the Patriotic Overseas Chinese Group in Japan, and attended by responsible persons of the Overseas Reunification Promotion Association from 44 countries and regions in the world and more than 600 representatives of overseas Chinese and Ethnic Chinese associations. Among them were Liang Surong, president of the Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification Across the Taiwan Strait; Xu Linong, adviser to the New Party; Wang Jinping, chairman of the China Unification Alliance; and nearly 60 representatives and experts and scholars of other organizations; and more than 200 responsible persons and experts and scholars from various overseas Chinese groups in Japan. Guo Junci, secretary general of the Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification Across the Taiwan Strait, presided over the meeting; Zhang Kehui, president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification; Liang Surong, president of the Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification Across the Strait, delivered speeches; other delegates attending the meeting made speeches on four special topics; and the conference submitted more than 100 papers, condemning the attempts of the "Taiwan independence" forces to split China and calling for the early realization of peaceful reunification. The congress adopted the "Declaration of the Conference on Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification of Overseas Chinese and Ethnic Chinese in the New Century," which expressed the common aspirations of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world in adhering to the one-China principle, opposing the separatist plot of "Taiwan independence," accomplishing the great cause of the reunification of the motherland, and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The meeting stressed the need to pin hopes on the people of Taiwan for peaceful reunification and highlighted the voice of the Taiwan compatriots.

4. Sydney Conference

When: 21-23 February 2002

Location: Sydney, Australia

The conference was hosted by the Australian Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, and nearly 600 representatives of the Overseas Reunification Promotion Council from more than 60 countries and regions on five continents, as well as representatives of the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, attended the conference. Luo Haocai, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification; Liang Surong, president of the Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification Across the Taiwan Strait; Xie Qida, former convener of Taiwan's New Party; and Liang Aishi, secretary of the Department of Justice of Hong Kong, attended the meeting; former US President Clinton, former Australian Prime Minister Fraser, and other foreign dignitaries and well-known entrepreneurs were also invited to attend the meeting. Representatives of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese from all over the world and representatives of the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong delivered speeches on China's peaceful reunification and world peace, with a total of 130 speeches and 89 papers received. The conference also held group discussions on such topics as "China's peaceful reunification and world peace," "The well-being and contribution of China's peaceful reunification to both sides of the Taiwan Strait and its contribution to the whole world," and "Obstacles to China's peaceful reunification." Through the joint declaration, the congress condensed a broad consensus and expressed the common aspirations of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese at home and abroad to oppose "Taiwan independence" and promote reunification.

5. Moscow Conference

When: 9-12 September 2003

Location: Moscow, Russia

The conference was co-sponsored by the European Federation of Overseas Chinese and Chinese Associations, the European Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, and the Russian Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, and more than 600 people from more than 60 countries and regions in the world attended the conference, as well as representatives of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese organizations from more than 60 countries and regions in the world, as well as more than 600 people from the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. Luo Haocai, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, delivered a speech. The conference coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival of the Chinese lunar calendar, so it was decided that "unity, family affection, and reunification" was the theme of the conference, and representatives of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese from all over the world discussed the great cause of China's peaceful reunification in a strong atmosphere of spending the festival together. The deputies discussed such topics as "the great cause of China's reunification and the historical mission of the sons and daughters of China," "Obstacles to China's peaceful reunification and corresponding countermeasures," "the significance of China's peaceful reunification to the political, economic, and cultural aspects of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and the world," and "mobilizing overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese to support China's peaceful reunification." Through the "Moscow Declaration," we call on the sons and daughters of China around the world to unite under the banner of China's reunification and national rejuvenation, play a bridging role for the stability and development of cross-strait relations, and make new contributions to China's peaceful reunification.

6. Bangkok Assembly

When: 29 February to 4 March 2004

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

The conference was co-sponsored by the Thai Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification and the Overseas Chinese Association of Thailand, and more than 1,000 representatives from 45 countries and regions on five continents attended. The theme of the conference was "Great Unity of the Chinese Nation, Resolutely Opposing the 'March 20 Referendum'". Zheng Mingru, chairman of the Thai Chinese Chamber of Commerce, served as the chairman of the conference, Wang Zhimin, president of the Thai Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, served as the executive chairman of the conference, Zhu Peikang, vice president of the China Zhongshan Cultural Exchange Association, Jin Fei, president of the Japan Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, Zhang Wuchai, president of the Brazilian Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, and Qiu Weilian, president of the Australian Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, spoke at the opening ceremony. Representatives of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese and representatives of the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong made speeches. The congress adopted the declaration of "doing everything possible to strive for the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait," warning the "Taiwan independence" forces: "Taiwan independence" is unpopular and there is no way out for separatism, and we must not underestimate the determination and ability of the Chinese Government and all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation to safeguard the national territorial reunification, and we must not drag the Taiwan Strait into the abyss of war. They jointly expressed the strong desire of the sons and daughters of China all over the world to resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" and eagerly hope for China's early peaceful reunification.

Congress of Vienna

Date: 15 August 2005

Location: Vienna, Austria

Combined with the theme of commemorating the 60th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, the congress was jointly organized by the Austrian Joint Organization of Societies and the European Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China. Luo Haocai, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification; Stutzenberg, special envoy of the Austrian president and chairman of the Austro-China Friendship Association; Lu Yonghua, Chinese ambassador to Austria; Li Haifeng, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council; Wang Fuqing, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council; the chairman of Austrian diplomacy, the Russian ambassador to Austria, representatives of the Overseas Reunification Promotion Association and overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese organizations from 66 countries and regions of the world, as well as people from the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, attended the meeting. The President of Austria sent a telegram to Ambassador Lu Yonghua congratulating the General Assembly on its convening. More than 40 representatives of the Overseas Unification Promotion Association and overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese organizations made speeches at the conference. The congress adopted the joint declaration of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world on "safeguarding world peace and promoting China's reunification," warned the "Taiwan independence" forces in the name of all compatriots attending the meeting to clearly understand that "Taiwan independence" is the impossible road, and called on compatriots on both sides of the strait to jointly plunge themselves into the great cause of opposing "independence" and promoting reunification.

8. Macao General Assembly

Date: December 14, 2006

Location: Macau, China

The conference was hosted by the Macao Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification and attended by more than 1,000 delegates from 50 countries and regions around the world. Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, sent a letter of congratulations. Liu Yandong, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, and executive vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification; Ho Hau-wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region; Bai Zhijian, director of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Macao; responsible persons of relevant departments of central state organs, the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, and relevant organizations; and people from relevant departments of the Macao Special Administrative Region attended the meeting; and Liu Yandong made a keynote speech. Focusing on the theme of promoting the peaceful reunification of the motherland, the delegates attending the meeting freely talked about the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, jointly expressed the patriotic feelings of the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation, and looked forward to the bright prospects for the peaceful reunification of the motherland. The "Declaration of the Macao Congress" was issued, calling on overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world and compatriots from the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao to join hands to bravely undertake the historical mission, strengthen their conviction in reunification, resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" activities, and pool their wisdom and strength to promote the great cause of peaceful reunification of the country.

IX. Budapest Conference

When: 8-9 August 2007

Location: Budapest, Hungary

The conference was jointly sponsored by the European Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification and the Hungarian Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, and more than 500 representatives from more than 30 countries and regions gathered together to discuss the theme of "building harmonious cross-strait relations, jointly building a harmonious world, and promoting China's peaceful reunification". Zhou Tienong, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice chairman of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, attended the meeting and delivered a speech; Zheng Lizhong, executive deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council; Xu Yousheng, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council; Zhu Peikang, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang; Zhang Chunxiang, Chinese ambassador to Hungary; and Guo Junci, president of the Association for Promoting Peaceful Reunification Across the Taiwan Strait, attended the meeting and made speeches. The meeting focused on such topics as "the development of cross-strait economic and trade relations and the building of harmonious cross-strait relations," "the impact of the economic development of the mainland of the motherland on cross-strait relations," "the development trend of Taiwan's political situation before 2008 and its impact on cross-strait relations," and "resolutely opposing Taiwan's separatist acts of 'de jure independence' and promoting the harmonious development of cross-strait relations." The "One China, Peaceful Development - Photo Exhibition on the Taiwan Issue" was held at the Asian Center in Hungary, introducing Taiwan's history and current situation with precious historical pictures and detailed written materials. He issued the "Budapest Declaration," strongly condemned and resolutely opposed the various provocations and risks of the Chen Shui-bian authorities in insisting on pursuing "Taiwan independence" and separatism, and called on the sons and daughters of China around the world to work together to build harmonious cross-strait relations, jointly build a harmonious world, and promote the peaceful reunification of the motherland.

10. Los Angeles Convention

Date: July 18, 2009

Location: Los Angeles, USA

The conference was hosted by the Southern California Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification and the Greater Los Angeles Regional Federation for the Promotion of China's Reunification, and more than 300 representatives of overseas Chinese from 25 countries and regions around the world, as well as representatives of the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, attended the conference. Xu Jialu, vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, Zheng Lizhong, executive deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Huang Xiaojian, acting consul general of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, and representatives of the United States, Thailand, Taiwan, and Macao spoke. The delegates attending the meeting conducted extensive exchanges on four topics, including "the new characteristics of opposing 'independence' and promoting reunification overseas," "Sino-US relations and cross-strait relations under the new situation," "how to give play to the unique role of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese in promoting China's peaceful reunification," and "how to resist the acts of 'Tibet independence' and 'three forces' splitting the country." Through the "Los Angeles Declaration," we call on overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world to shoulder their historical mission at a new historical starting point, unite as one, strengthen confidence, and make unremitting efforts to work together to create a new situation for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and promote China's complete reunification and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

11. Hong Kong General Assembly

When: 21-22 September 2010

Location: Hong Kong, China

The conference was hosted by the Hong Kong Federation of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, and more than 1,500 representatives of overseas Chinese from more than 60 countries and regions around the world, as well as representatives of the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, attended the conference. Among them, there are 36 and 670 Taiwanese associations, the highest number of previous congresses, and they are all over the island's political, military, and academic circles. Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, sent a congratulatory letter. Du Qinglin, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, and executive vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, Zeng Yam-kuen, chief executive of the Hong Kong Sarco Region, Li Gang, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the CPC Central Committee in Hong Kong, Xu Linong, president of the Taiwan New League Association, Qiu Weilian, president of the Australia Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, Yang Sunxi, chairman of the Hong Kong Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, and Gao Jingde, president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification. Li Haifeng, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and Zheng Lizhong, executive deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, attended the meeting. The conference held four forums on the themes of cross-strait peaceful development, economic and trade cooperation, culture and education, and youth exchanges between Hong Kong and Taiwan, and 39 keynote speakers delivered speeches from different fields and different angles on how to promote cross-strait peaceful development and reunification, and conducted extensive exchanges. Through the "Hong Kong Declaration", it calls on overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world to work together to promote a new win-win situation between the two sides of the strait, jointly promote the peaceful development of the two sides of the strait, and make new contributions to the early realization of the great cause of China's peaceful reunification.

XII. Washington Congress

Date: September 17, 2011

Location: Washington, U.S

The conference was jointly sponsored by 19 overseas Chinese and Chinese associations, including the National Federation of Associations for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, hosted by the Washington Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, and attended by more than 500 people from the central government's relevant departments and provincial and municipal delegations related to overseas Chinese and Taiwan, delegations from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, delegations of organizations opposing "independence" and promoting reunification from all over the world, representatives of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese in the United States, and experts and scholars. On the occasion of the centenary of the Xinhai Revolution, we will jointly commemorate the revolutionary sages, revisit Mr. Zhongshan's last words, discuss the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and work together to achieve the great cause of the reunification of the motherland. Zhou Tienong, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, and vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, delivered a speech. With the theme of "Carrying Forward the Spirit of the Xinhai Revolution, Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification, and Realizing the Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation," the conference held discussions on four special topics, including "Commemorating the Centenary of the Xinhai Revolution," "Peaceful Development of Cross-Strait Relations," "Opposing 'Independence' and Promoting Reunification Overseas," and "Sino-US Relations," jointly remembering the course of struggle of revolutionary pioneers and benevolent people represented by Dr. Sun Yat-sen in promoting national progress and national rejuvenation, reviewing the extraordinary road traveled by overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world in the anti-"independence" and promoting reunification movement, and analyzing the opportunities and challenges facing the development of cross-strait relations. We muster and strengthen our determination to oppose "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and jointly safeguard the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. The "Washington Declaration" holds that the overseas anti-"independence" and reunification movement has a long way to go, and the vast number of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese should think about the future of cross-strait relations and the future of the Chinese nation from the perspective of the whole nation, continue to expand the influence of the anti-"independence" and pro-reunification movement, extensively win the support of the international community, and unswervingly struggle against all kinds of forces splitting China.

XIII. Madrid Conference

When: August 8-9, 2012

Location: Madrid, Spain

About 850 representatives of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese from 48 countries and regions, as well as representatives of the mainland of the motherland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, attended the conference. Abulahat Abdul Reshi, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, presented himself to the meeting. Zhu Bangzao, Chinese ambassador to Spain, Ma Rupei, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Ye Kedong, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and Zhu Yilong, vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, delivered speeches. The purpose of the congress is to extensively unite overseas forces opposing "independence" and promoting reunification, consolidate the hard-won achievements in opposing "independence" and promoting reunification, unite all forces at home and abroad to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, safeguard the territorial integrity and national unity of the motherland, deepen the "anti-splittism and promote reunification," and complete the great cause of the reunification of the motherland at an early date. The "Madrid Declaration" was issued, calling on the vast number of overseas Chinese in Europe to take the promotion of Chinese culture as a bridge, vigorously carry out public diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, enhance China's soft power, strengthen the construction of overseas Chinese communities, promote Sino-European friendship, and jointly make unremitting efforts to oppose "independence" and promote reunification.

14. Rio Assembly

Date: October 17, 2013

Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This congress is the first global conference to oppose "independence" and promote reunification held in South America, and is sponsored by the Brazilian Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification and the Rio Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification. Sang Guowei, vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification; Qiu Yuanping, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council; Yang Yanyin, deputy director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese Committee of the CppcC National Committee; Zheng Jianbang, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee; and responsible comrades of the Overseas Chinese Committee of the National People's Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Hubei Province, and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, led the delegation to attend the meeting, and the participants included more than 400 Brazilian dignitaries and representatives of the Association for the Promotion of Reunification of various countries and regions. Sang Guowei delivered a keynote speech, and representatives from Brazil, the United States, Belgium, Taiwan and other countries and regions spoke. With the theme of "Jointly Promoting Peaceful Reunification and Realizing the Chinese Dream", the conference carried out a series of speeches, discussions, lectures and exchanges, and achieved fruitful results. Through the "Rio de Janeiro Declaration," it was pointed out that the congress greatly encouraged the enthusiasm for the work of the South American Unification Promotion Association, strengthened the confidence of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese in South America in opposing "independence" and promoting reunification, and called on overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world to make full use of their own unique conditions and create a good external environment for promoting China's reunification.

15. Johannesburg Assembly

Date: November 8, 2015

The Global Conference on Opposing "Independence" and Promoting Reunification was held for the first time in Africa, hosted by the All-Africa Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification; nearly 700 people from about 30 countries and regions attended the conference; and nearly 700 people from about 30 countries and regions, many African dignitaries, and international friends attended the conference; and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, the Central Committee of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee, the Overseas Chinese Committee of the National People's Congress, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and other units involved in overseas Chinese to Taiwan organized delegations to attend the meeting. Former President of Mozambique, Honorary President of the All-Africa Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification, Chissano, Minister of Communications of South Africa, Quile and other dignitaries attended the meeting and delivered speeches. With the theme of "One Family on Both Sides of the Strait and The Feelings of China on Five Continents," the conference echoed the wishes of all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation and conformed to the development of the situation in cross-strait relations. A large-scale photo exhibition of the South African overseas Chinese community commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held, a film viewing party entitled "The Great Wall of Blood - Overseas Chinese and Ethnic Chinese and the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression", and a literary and art evening of "Family Affection for China" were held, and scholars from the Taiwan Research Center of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the Development Research Center of the State Council gave special lectures on the process of China's peaceful reunification, the "Belt and Road" and overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese. The "Johannesburg Declaration" said that it will continue to maintain a high degree of vigilance against the "Taiwan independence" forces, resolutely oppose any form of separatist activities, and call on all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation to work together to realize the complete reunification of the country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation at an early date.

16. Bangkok Assembly

When: July 7, 2016

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

On July 7, 2016, the "Global Overseas Chinese and Chinese Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification (2016· Bangkok) Conference" hosted by the Thai Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification was solemnly held in Bangkok. More than 300 representatives of the Unification Promotion Council from more than 50 countries and regions and about 1,000 people from all walks of life in Thailand and China attended the meeting. Qi Xuchun, then vice chairman of the NATIONAL COMMITTEE of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Reunification, attended the meeting and made a keynote speech. The conference adopted the "Bangkok Declaration," unanimously acknowledging that the "1992 Consensus" is the cornerstone of the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and calling on compatriots on both sides of the strait and overseas Chinese to cherish the "1992 Consensus" and safeguard the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.

17. Florence Congress

When: July 23, 2017

Location: Florence, Italy

The "Global Overseas Chinese and Chinese Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification (2017· Florence) Conference" co-sponsored by the Italian Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification and other Italian overseas Chinese groups was held in Florence on July 23. More than 1,000 people, including delegations of relevant departments and groups involved in Taiwan and overseas Chinese, responsible persons of the Unification Promotion Council from more than 40 countries and regions, representatives of the local Italian government, representatives of local overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese, and international friends, attended the grand event. With the theme of "Adhering to the 1992 Consensus, Promoting Cross-Strait Integration and Development, and Sharing the Chinese Dream with the Same Circle", the conference also held three forums and an exhibition of Chinese calligraphy and painting works on both sides of the Strait. Zhang Baowen, then vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Reunification, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. The congress issued the "Florence Declaration," calling on the vast number of overseas Chinese compatriots abroad to carry out propaganda on a global scale of "opposing 'Taiwan independence' and promoting reunification," give play to the characteristics of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese around the world with a wide range and great influence, set off a new round of anti-"independence" and promote reunification, and resolutely oppose and stop the "Taiwan independence" conspiracy of the Tsai Ing-wen authorities.

XVIII. Panama Congress

When: June 2, 2018

Location: Panama City

The "Global Conference on Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification (2018 Panama City) and the Annual Meeting of the Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification in Central and South America" sponsored by the Panamanian Overseas Chinese and Chinese Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification was held in Panama City on June 2. Wan Gang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Reunification, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. Nearly 800 representatives from the China Association for the Promotion of Reunification and overseas Chinese organizations from more than 30 countries around the world, as well as from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, attended the meeting. The theme of the conference is: Defending the "One-China Principle," Opposing "Taiwan Independence" Separatist Acts, Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification, and Striving for the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation. The meeting adopted the declaration of the "Global Conference of Overseas Chinese and Ethnic Chinese to Promote China's Peaceful Reunification (2018 Panama City)", advocating that the sons and daughters of China at home and abroad who love peace and justice and support the reunification of the motherland should actively take action, resolutely struggle against all kinds of "Taiwan independence" separatist acts, and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

19. Manila Conference

When: June 22, 2019

Location: Manila, Philippines

On the morning of June 22, the Global Conference on Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification (2019· Manila) hosted by the Philippine Association for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification and with the theme of "Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification and Realizing the Great Rejuvenation of the Nation" was grandly opened in Manila. This is the first time that the global conference on promoting China's peaceful reunification has entered the Philippines. More than 1,200 representatives of the Unification Council and related organizations from more than 40 countries and regions attended the meeting. Wan Gang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, chairman of the Central Committee of the Zhi Gong Party, and vice president of the China Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. During the meeting, the delegates held four group forums on the themes of "peaceful development of the two sides of the strait," "cross-strait economic, trade, and cultural exchanges," "'one country, two systems' Taiwan plan," and "Chinese youth in the new era." The meeting adopted the Declaration of the Global Conference on Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification (2019· Manila). The declaration pointed out that overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese resolutely support the "five-point proposal" put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the 40th anniversary of the publication of the "Message to Taiwan Compatriots", firmly support the Chinese government in taking all necessary measures to combat "Taiwan independence", and resolutely oppose interference in China's internal affairs by external forces. China must be reunified, and it must be reunified.
