The Uruguayan national team was the first fifa World Cup champion team, having defeated Argentina 4–2 at home in 1930 to win the inaugural World Cup.
Uruguay has participated in the World Cup 14 times (including the 2022 Qatar World Cup), won two titles (1930 and 1950) and three times.
Uruguay won the Copa America for the 15th time in 2011, becoming one of the most copa America countries.
Uruguay also won two Olympic men's football titles in 1924 and 1928.

Hector Castro
In a chainsaw accident in his youth, Castro suffered an unfortunate death and was amputated below the elbow of his right hand. It is known as the "one-armed general".
In the first game of the 1930 World Cup, Uruguay beat Peru, and he scored the only goal, which was a long-range shot of about 35 meters and the first goal since the completion of the Centennial Stadium. After the match, Castro was named to the best squad for that World Cup.
Hector Scaloni
In the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Games, he scored 5 and 3 goals respectively, and made a great contribution to the team's two Olympic gold medals.
He is one of 4 Uruguayan Grand Slam players (winning 2 Olympic Games and 1 World Cup). He made 51 appearances for the Uruguayan national team and scored 31 goals.
Obudulio Barrera
Nicknamed "Black Boss", the captain of the 1950 World Cup winner Uruguay.
In 1940, 1946 and 1948, Barrera led Uruguay to three Copa America victories, and in his personal World Cup career, Barrera played seven games, scored 2 goals, and was considered one of the best captains of his time.
Schiafino
He has won the Uruguayan League three times, won Serie A three times, and scored 50 goals in 188 appearances in Italy.
In 1954, AC Milan spent $100,000 to bring in Schiafino, nicknamed "Pepe", setting the world record at the time. He brought 3 league titles to the Milanese and reached the final of the European Champions Cup.
Alcidez Gigia
The creator of the 1950 World Cup "Maracanã Strike", it was with one of his assists and a goal that Uruguay defeated host Brazil 2-1 at the famous Maracanã Stadium to win that year's World Cup.
Obudulio Barrera
