According to Cambodian media sources, on August 24, Vice Premier and Interior Minister Su Qing said in a meeting with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in Cambodia that he would personally lead the law enforcement action against crimes such as human trafficking and illegal detention, and stressed the need to track down the mastermind behind the scenes.

He said that in the fight against trafficking, forced work and illegal detention work, criminals have exploited loopholes to use Cambodia as a major location for fraud and human trafficking.

At the same time, Minister Su Qing confirmed that the Cambodian government and the Ministry of the Interior promised to take further action to crack down on criminals.

He revealed that in the near future, Cambodia will launch a strike hard campaign and mobilize police forces from all sides to jointly track down the mastermind behind the scenes and severely punish them.

In addition, Su Qing also pointed out that there is still room for improvement in Cambodia's prison management system and criminal justice system, including prison overcrowding. In addition, more than 50 per cent of the prison inmates are involved in drugs, and the Ministry of the Interior is highly concerned about this matter and is working to solve it.
