In 1924, Dr. Sun Yat-sen promoted the establishment of the National Guangdong University and personally inscribed the cross motto "Erudite, Interrogation, Prudent Thinking, Discernment, and Dedication." In 1926, in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, National Guangdong University was renamed National Sun Yat-sen University.

As the first decade of the 21st century draws to a close, backward business models are gradually being falsified and new development models are gradually sprouting.
In 2009, Wang Yang, then secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, proposed at Sun Yat-sen University: "Sun Yat-sen University is the leader of higher education in Guangdong and an important support for Guangdong's economic and social development, and hopes that Sun Yat-sen University can make full use of its own advantages in scientific research, education and talents to contribute to Guangdong's economic and social development."
Therefore, under the impetus of Sun Yat-sen University in 2010, Shu Yuan joined hands with Zheng Guihui (President of Zhongchuang Group, CUHK Venture Capital), Xie Jiasheng (CEO of Guangdong Medical Valley) and other alumni to prepare venture capital projects. This is a temple of thought of "talking and laughing with Confucianism, and there is no white ding" where various advanced ideas can collide. They realized that venture capital is an important factor for China's innovation industry, through the combination of technology and finance, so that financial investment can help the innovation industry grow.
With the joint efforts of everyone, in February 2011, CUHK Venture Capital was officially established in Lin Hu Tang, Sun Yat-sen University.

Forge ahead and keep improving
Starting from the same university background, CUHK Venture Capital took the well-known Yale University Fund as a learning benchmark at the beginning of its establishment, and was once known as the Chinese version of the "Yale Fund".
However, venture capital is a high-risk investment, and unlike Yale University's use of donor funds, Sun Yat-sen University cannot give financial support and can only rely on alumni self-financing and operate according to market-oriented investment principles. In addition, at this time, the hot spot of venture capital has passed, and the development situation is unfavorable. CUHK Venture Capital has been challenging since its inception.
