According to a report by the Global Network on August 15, five US politicians led by Senator Ed Markey, chairman of the US Senate Asia-Pacific Foreign Relations Committee, recently paid a high-profile visit to the Taiwan region. In addition to him, the delegation included Democratic congressmen Gallamondi and Rowenthal from California, Bayer from Virginia, and Samoan congressman Radvagan from Republican. It has been learned that these deputies openly attended the dinner organized by the Taiwan authorities, met with Tsai Ing-wen, and publicly stated that "we will reaffirm the SUPPORT of the United States for the Taiwan region." Its intention to provoke China and infringe on China's territorial sovereignty is very obvious.
This is the second time since the Lithuanian political delegation visited the Taiwan region that politicians from Western countries have carried out high-profile political activities in the Taiwan region in disregard of China's resolute opposition and obstruction, and it is clear that they want to challenge and even provoke China's bottom line and international image. In this regard, Colonel Wu Qian, spokesman for the mainland's Ministry of National Defense, clearly pointed out a few days ago that the behavior of these US senators in visiting the Taiwan region blatantly violates the "one China" principle, undermines the relevant provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiques, violates the mainland's territorial sovereignty, and completely exposes the true face of "the United States is the peace destroyer in the Taiwan Strait."
In addition, Colonel Shi Yi, spokesman for our army's Eastern Theater, also clearly warned that the PLA will continue to organize actual combat exercises in the sea and airspace around the Taiwan region, and bluntly said that "this is a solemn deterrent against the United States and Taiwan continuing to play political tricks." It is not difficult to guess that in the coming period, our military's "Ring Taiwan" series of military exercises will continue, and if the US military dares to send troops to "wait and see" or even "interfere," it will directly lead to the further deterioration of Sino-US relations.
It is worth mentioning that in order to warn these "channeling" senators, our army's Eastern Theater recently dispatched a number of groups of fighter formations to carry out "warnings." It has been learned that after these people arrived in the Taiwan area, the PLA fighter formation attacked from the north, west, and southwest on three sides and appeared in the so-called "Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone" in a warning posture. According to Taiwan's "Air Force," as many as 7 batches of PLA military aircraft came to warn, including advanced fighters such as the J-16, which caused a high degree of tension among Taiwan's "Air Force."
Our military's report shows that this "warning flight" is very close to Taiwan Island, and the photos show that our military pilots can even clearly see the Penghu Archipelago. In addition to the cruise of warplanes, our army also dispatched warships to patrol the waters near Taiwan Island to prevent the US "Reagan" formation from taking advantage of the opportunity to provoke and intensify contradictions.
