In September 2021 Saab's new generation of fast assault boats, the 90 NG (CB90), participated in the DSEI 2021 exhibition at ExCeL in London and was on the voyage at the show.
CB90 new generation fast assault boat on the River Thames
The new generation of rapid assault craft, the CB90 NG, is designed to quickly transport Marines and other units, and is known for facilitating the rapid disembarkation and rapid disengagement of troops, whether on the beach or on the rugged elevated rocky coast. Depending on the mission, cb90 NG can take on different roles, such as searching for threats, sharing intelligence, rapidly deploying troops, and attacking enemies.
The CB90 NG includes a new combat management system and sensors for fire control and surveillance reconnaissance. Through its further improved stealth, mobility and speed, it provides multi-tasking capabilities for amphibious forces. Cb90 NG can also project forces from the sea more efficiently.
Depending on the mission, cb90 NG can take on different roles, such as battlefield environmental threat search.
The exceptionally fast and agile assault boat has a maximum speed of well over 40 knots and can carry up to 21 fully equipped amphibious forces. In addition, it can be equipped with a large-caliber machine gun, an MK19 grenade launcher, mines and depth charges, as well as Saab's own Trackfire (a long-range weapons station that can fire weapons with extreme precision while the ship is moving).
Saab's CB 90 has previously produced more than 250 vessels worldwide and has been a success since the first vessel was commissioned.

The CB90 NG is a freshly designed ship equipped with more things than its predecessors, such as improved speed, maneuverability, attack power, and surveillance capabilities. The first vessel of the new model has been delivered to the Swedish Navy, designated Docksta CB 90HSM.

The fast all-aluminum CB90 Next Generation effortlessly carries multiple troops and cargo in shallow or open water while maintaining extreme speed and maneuverability.
A new drivetrain and by adjusting the engine position, the point of gravity is optimized, which makes the boat more stable, faster and quieter.
Thanks to the lightweight polyethylene lining and safety glass, the process provides excellent CBRN and bulletproof protection. Powerful weapons platforms can include stable turntables, smaller missile systems and long-range weapons stations such as the Saab Trackfire, while the versatile and rugged interior, combined with powerful bow ramps, ensure rapid deployment to complex beaches.
Based on proven design and operational success, cb90 Next Generation can be transported by land or other vessels for use with coast guard, pilots, firefighters, airport rescue, search and rescue and environmental protection.
