Biography

Li Yang is the commander of a regiment of the Air Force in the Western Theater. He actively explored the path of practical training for new-type combat forces, participated in more than 50 major exercise tasks, led the completion of more than 10 sets of study methods, and won the second class merit once and the third class merit twice.

"Flying Eagle, order you to quickly support and strike at the 'enemy' chariot." Just when the red and blue infantry fighters were fighting inextricably, the drill director department issued an order. A red-sided drone that was reconnaissance in the air changed course and immediately flew towards the mission airspace.

In the ground cabin, the pilot who controls the drone keeps an eye on the data changes on the display, finds the right time, and hits the target in one fell swoop...

This pilot was Li Yang, commander of a certain regiment of the Air Force of the Western Theater.

In 2016, Li Yang, who was still an Air Force fighter pilot, faced a new type of aircraft.

At that time, wars and conflicts that occurred around the world were accelerating the evolution of the form of war from mechanization to informationization, and the constantly changing operational concept refreshed Li Yang's understanding of war.

"Intelligent and unmanned weapons and equipment is one of the development trends of future wars, and unmanned aerial vehicles will certainly be able to make great achievements on the battlefield in the future." Li Yang resolutely applied to go to the northwest and join the Air Force's drone unit.

The fighter changed from "take me flying" to "flying for me". This kind of conversion brings a sense of freshness to Li Yang, but also brings no small challenge.

"Flying a fighter aircraft man-machine takes off at the same time, the body can perceive the flight attitude in real time, and the 'man-machine integration' is more comfortable." Li Yang told reporters that the control of the UAV needs to adopt the control mode of "artificial + intelligent", and it is necessary to force yourself to "change your brain".

Breaking through the "theoretical barrier", Li Yang turned over the thick professional books over and over again, memorizing the boring technical parameters. In order to find out the principle of unmanned aerial vehicle system, in addition to learning to fly, he also learned communication, aircraft maintenance... During that time, chasing the old pilot for advice and pulling the aircraft maintenance personnel to communicate became the norm of Li Yang's work.

When it came to the practical simulation training stage, Li Yang often flew for several hours a day, staring at the display data throughout the whole process and conducting simulated take-off and landing, reconnaissance and search and other subjects of training.

Relying on his solid foundation and the momentum of "drilling to the end", Li Yang has successively led the breakthrough of a number of technical problems, led the completion of a number of sets of research on tactics, and was called "a pilot who understands theory and a theoretician who can fly" by his comrades-in-arms.

"'Detection and combat integration' is the development direction of unmanned aerial vehicles, which can be seen clearly, clearly identified, accurately played, and played quickly to win the future battlefield." Li Yang said that this requires multiple battle positions to form a fist and form a joint force.

In 2020, a tactical drill began. Li Yang led the pilots to fight continuously, flew out of the "enemy's situation" and the changes in the battlefield situation, flew out tricky tactical actions and changeable routes, quickly completed aerial reconnaissance of the "enemy's" forward and in-depth targets, and resolutely called for fire support to give the "enemy" a fatal blow.

"Long-range, penetration, coordination and other combat modes make unmanned aerial vehicles become multipliers to improve combat effectiveness under information conditions." Li Yang told reporters that in the training that closely follows the actual battle time and again, the air combat force system that combines man and man has been continuously improved, and the pace of integration of unmanned aerial vehicles into the combat system has become faster and faster.

In the 2019 National Day 70th Anniversary Military Parade, 32 equipment teams composed of modules such as maritime combat and unmanned combat made a wonderful appearance. Among the equipment on display were the weapons and equipment installed by Li Yang's unit.

"There are us on the road to the strong army!" On that day, on the northwest plateau full of yellow sand, Li Yang and his comrades-in-arms, who were stationed for training, cheered for the equipment being paraded while watching live television.

"The drone industry provides us with a broad platform to realize value, which is both an opportunity and a challenge." Speaking of the future, Li Yang is confident and firm, "We must only seize the day, increase the intensity of training, and strive towards the informationized battlefield!" ”
