In 1962, graduates from 18 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, 24 colleges and universities, and cadres and workers from surrounding areas formed a construction army of 369 people, with great ambition, stationed in Saihanba, and vowed to rearrange the mountains, rivers and land. Planting trees has become a strong melody in their hearts.
In the summer of 1964, six female graduates of Chengde No. 2 Middle School gave up applying for the university and took the initiative to ask to work in the Saihanba Mechanical Forestry Farm, joining the ranks of the entrepreneurial army. "Six women on the dam" was a beautiful talk for a while. Like male workers, they participated in the front-line work of seedling raising, afforestation, land preparation and other production, and dedicated their precious youth to the green cause of Saihanba.
