There is a lake on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands called Lake Morral, which is the deepest freshwater lake in the UK, just 1.6 km from the sea and 113 km from the famous Loch Ness. The Celts who live here have passed down an ancient legend for generations.

Legend has it that there was a mysterious creature in the lake called Morag, who was half human and half fish, with snow-white skin and long blonde hair. However, the locals were very afraid to see him, because every time he appeared, someone died. The turning point of events came in 1887, the year when someone actually saw a mysterious creature in the lake, but this creature was not the legendary mermaid.

This is the earliest record of sightings of Morag in modern times. In 1948, nine people were playing on the lake in a boat and saw a snake-like creature, about six meters long. In 1968, local hotel employees saw a strange creature crossing the lake, with black smooth skin, a slender neck about two meters above the water, and a small, flat head.

In 1969, a fisherman found a lizard-like monster lying at a depth of four meters, about six meters long, gray-brown, with a snake-like head and four feet, each with three toes. In the same year, two locals drove their motorboats through the lake, when suddenly there was a splash of water behind them, and a behemoth rushed towards them, his skin brown, his head like a snake, and three humps on his back.

The monster crashed into their motorboat, and in a panic, they fired a shot, and then the monster disappeared under the lake. Similar creatures were seen between 1971 and 1975, and the most recent sightings occurred in 2013 and 2019, when people saw it three times in two days, and more than one.

These creatures all have classic humps. So what type of creature would the Morag be? What is its relationship with the legendary half-man, half-fish? Didn't ancient marine reptiles go extinct?
