On August 8, the 12th Beijing International Film Festival announced the list of films screened in Beijing. This year's Beijing screening is divided into units such as "Wave of Light and Shadow New Driving Force for Hong Kong Film", "Restoration Classic", "Master Review", "Voice of Women" and other units, and the film list covers film history classics, cutting-edge masterpieces, taking into account literary and artistic business.
The "Master Review" section of this year's North Film Festival will screen 14 films by Greek director Theo Angelopoulos. Angelopoulos began his career in film in 1970 and has won many of the world's top film festival awards, including the Berlin Film Festival's Fabisi Film Critics Award, the Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or, and the Cannes Film Festival Grand Jury Prize. In 2012, during the filming of "That Sea", Angelopoulos died in a car accident. 2022 is the tenth year of his death.
In honor of Angelopoulos, the film list of this year's North Film Festival covers his first short film "Broadcasting", his feature film debut "Reconstruction", the curtain call "Dust of Time", including the "Trilogy of Modern Greek History", "Silent Trilogy" and "Balkan Trilogy" series. Classic films such as "Landscape in the Mist", "The Gaze of Ulysses" and "Eternity and a Day" will be screened. It is reported that this is the largest and most numerous Anzhe film retrospective exhibition in the mainland in the past ten years, and most of the works are screened in Beijing for the first time.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the 12th Beijing Film Festival launched a special exhibition "Wave of Light and Shadow, a new driving force for Hong Kong cinema", which screened a number of newly produced films and restored versions of classic films in Hong Kong, China. From the 4K version of "Huang Feihong" and "Shaolin Temple" to the five-nominated "Kill Out of The Dusk", the work spans nearly 40 years.
The "Restoring the Classics" section will show digital restorations of François Truffaut's "Antoine's Pentalogy" and "The Last Waltz" and more. 2022 is the 40th anniversary of the release of "Tea House", and the Beijing Film Festival will cooperate with Ren Yi in depth to screen a digital restored version of the 1982 movie "Tea House".
The Carnival section features a number of popular film productions, including a number of "old films" in new formats. Film history classics, including the 50th anniversary of "The Godfather" Dolby Vision remake, the 4K version of "Ghost in the Shell" and the IMAX version, are all on display.
In addition, all eight harry pottery series will be presented to viewers in IMAX format. Three theatrical versions of the popular Japanese manga "Voyager King" will also be screened during this year's North Film Festival, including the latest theatrical version of The Voyager King in 2022, "The Voyager King: Red-Haired Singer". It is worth noting that "The Voyager: Red Haired Singer" has only one screening, and the film will be released in Japan on August 6, 2022, which means that audiences can watch the movie in sync with the Japanese big screen.
From August 12 to 21, the "Beijing Screening" section of the 12th Beijing International Film Festival will be screened in 18 commercial theaters, art theaters and theaters in Beijing. Online ticket sales will officially open at 12:00 noon on August 10.
