On August 2, US Congressional Speaker Pelosi insisted on visiting Taiwan in spite of China's strong opposition and solemn representations, single-handedly provoking and creating tension in the Taiwan Strait. We have noted that some people and forces on the Swedish side have made no distinction between right and wrong, reversed black and white, and groundlessly smeared and accused China of reasonable and legitimate measures to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. In order to enable the Swedish people to objectively and fairly understand the current situation in the Taiwan Strait, the Chinese side's position on Pei's visit is hereby expounded as follows:

I. Pelosi's attempt to channel taiwan is a wanton violation of the one-China principle, non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and other purposes and principles of the UnIntend of the United Nations Charter and the basic norms governing international relations.

There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate Government representing all of China. This was made clear in 1971 General Assembly resolution 2758. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, 181 countries have established diplomatic relations with China on the basis of the one-China principle. The one-China principle is the universal consensus of the international community and the basic norm governing international relations. In 1979, the Us side made a clear commitment in the Sino-US Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, "The United States of America recognizes the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of China." Within this context, the people of the United States will maintain cultural, commercial and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan. ”

As an integral part of the US Government, the US Congress should strictly abide by the US Government's one-China policy, abide by the most basic norms of international law, fulfill its international obligations, and refrain from any official exchanges with the Taiwan region. Speaker Pelosi is the current leader of the US Congress, and her visit to Taiwan in any form and for any reason is a major political provocation to escalate official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, a serious violation of the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiques, and a serious violation of China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Second, the causes and consequences of the current tension in the Taiwan Strait are clear and clear, the merits and demerits are clear at a glance, and the United States is an active provocateur and a crisis maker, and must bear full responsibility.

At present, the situation in the Taiwan Strait is facing a new round of tension and severe challenges, and the fundamental reason is that the Taiwan authorities and the US side are constantly changing the status quo. The Taiwan authorities have repeatedly "relied on the United States to seek independence," refused to recognize the "1992 Consensus," vigorously pursued "de-Sinicization," and promoted "gradual Taiwan independence." However, the US side is attempting to engage in "using Taiwan to control China," constantly distorting and hollowing out the one-China principle, strengthening official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, and supporting and cheering up the separatist activities of "Taiwan independence." Pelosi's visit to Taiwan is a fuel and a political gamble. All parties in the international community have issued early warnings in this regard, pointing out that Pelosi's channeling of Taiwan is a completely unnecessary malicious provocation and will trigger a serious crisis.

The US side claims that China is escalating the situation, but the most basic fact is that the US side first provoked the Chinese side on the Taiwan issue, flagrantly violating China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The US side claims that there is a precedent for the speaker's visit to Taiwan, but the most basic truth is that the mistakes of the past cannot be used as an excuse for repeating them today. The United States claims that the separation of powers cannot bind the parliament, but the most basic norm of international law is that the United States must fulfill its international obligations, especially important politicians cannot act recklessly. The US side also claims that China's pursuit of reunification is a "threat" to Taiwan, but the most basic logic is that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Taiwan issue is entirely China's internal affair. The US side claims that China is responsible for the current situation, but the most basic common sense is that the perpetrators and the initiators should bear full responsibility.

Third, Pelosi's so-called "defense of democracy" is nothing more than a cheap tool and cover used by the United States.

The essence of Pelosi's visit to Taiwan is by no means a democratic issue, but an issue concerning China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. What Pelosi is doing is by no means a defense and defense of democracy, but a provocation and violation of China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Pelosi personally is the one who stands out, but it is the relations between the two countries and the peace and stability of the region that suffer.

As the third most important person in the US government, in the face of the problem of democracy that is difficult to return to at home, Pelosi spends taxpayers' money and sits on a US military plane to put on a show, and engages in activities that violate international law and the basic norms governing international relations and damage the internal affairs and sovereign territorial integrity of other countries, which can only make the world see more clearly the hypocrisy and ugliness of the United States and further bankrupt the credibility of the United States.

China's relevant measures conform to international law and domestic law, are a warning to provocateurs, and are also a safeguard for regional stability and peace in the Taiwan Strait, which has won widespread support from the international community.

In order to avoid this crisis imposed on China, the Chinese side has made the greatest diplomatic efforts, repeatedly warned the US side of the seriousness and harmfulness of the Pelosi channeling incident through various channels, and clearly pointed out that the Chinese side will not sit idly by and will not give any space to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.

The malicious provocation of the US side comes first, and China's legitimate defense comes later. China's relevant countermeasures are a necessary warning to provocateurs and a legitimate defense of national sovereignty and security. If the countries and personnel concerned are really concerned about regional peace and stability, why didn't they stand up earlier to dissuade Pelosi from visiting? On issues involving China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, the countermeasures taken by China are legitimate, necessary, appropriate, and not excessive.

China's relevant measures are also a resolute safeguard for regional peace and stability, as well as international law and the basic norms governing international relations. If the Chinese side does not resolutely resist this manic, irresponsible and extremely irrational act of the US side, the principle of international relations that respects sovereignty and territorial integrity will become a dead letter, all kinds of separatists and extremist forces will intensify their efforts, and the hard-won peace and stability in the region will be seriously damaged. The vast number of developing countries, which account for more than 80 per cent of the world's population, could be the next target at any time. Because of this, more than 160 countries have recently spoken out with a voice of justice, reiterating their adherence to the one-China policy and supporting China in resolutely safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Fifth, in the face of the great national righteousness of national reunification, Chinese have the backbone of not believing in evil and not being afraid of ghosts, the ambition of not being intimidated and overwhelmed, the determination of all people to unite as one and the will of all, and the ability to resolutely defend state sovereignty and national dignity. The sovereignty and independence of China and other countries are won by the people in bloody struggle, and they will never be allowed to be infringed upon for no reason.

Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with New China, and the one-China principle is the political basis for Sino-Swiss bilateral relations. China urges the Swedish side to uphold a correct position on Taiwan-related issues, listen to and respect the voices of more than 1.4 billion Chinese people and the voices of nearly 90 percent of the world's population, abide by the political commitments made to China, clearly understand the causes and essence of the current crisis, jointly oppose the risks and provocations of the United States, support China's legitimate positions and measures, and create good conditions for the development of China-Sweden relations.
