Gan Jianhua, a famous writer, journalist, senior editor, visiting professor of the Department of Journalism and Communication of Hunan Hengyang Normal University, and visiting professor of the School of Geographical Sciences of Qinghai Normal University, has not only visited the "West of the West", but also lived, studied and worked there for more than ten years. The term "West of the West", the concept of this region, was first proposed by Teacher Gan Jianhua. A famous writer, professor, and literary critic once said that "the west of the west" is a regional concept proposed by Mr. Gan Jianhua, and it is also a literary banner he has raised, which has produced a huge sensational effect on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau... Mr. Gan Jianhua's book "The West of the West" is also an indispensable text for literary critics to comprehensively study western literature. ”

Meeting Teacher Gan Jianhua was a chance encounter. Although we know each other, Teacher Gan Jianhua and I are still in a relationship. In the past, when I worked in the western desert, I had long admired his honorific name. He is often read in newspapers and magazines and relevant media reports on him. One morning about two or three years ago, I happened to be on the way back from the interview and filming, and I received a phone call from Hengyang, Hunan Province, thousands of miles away, and when the other party introduced gan Jianhua, I was surprised, I was excited, and all of a moment came to my mind, as if a child who had been lost for many years had found a "home", and there were countless words to be said. Teacher Gan Jianhua, but I have idolized for many years! Maybe I left the desert for too long, maybe the busy work and fast-paced life were suppressed for too long, and I never had time to talk to anyone about the second homeland of Qaidam that I deeply loved, and the appearance of Teacher Gan Jianhua made me feel like "acquaintance and hate late". Because he is also from the desert, we have a common topic, we have a common name called "Mangya"! He is concentrating on compiling a literary and historical book on Qaidam and Mangya, and intends to inquire and verify individual information. Since then, I have been in contact with Mr. Gan Jianhua, whom I admire in my heart, although we are all busy. Sometimes he sent me his masterpieces about the plateau for me to appreciate and study, and sometimes he sent some information about the desert cliffs, although there were only a few words, enough to warm my heart. Especially when Mangya established a county-level city in 2018, although we all left Qinghai and left the cliffs in the depths of Qaidam, we all loved the plateau, the Qaidam, and the cliffs. In those days, we always paid attention to the good news of the establishment of the city on the cliffs, such as children looking forward to the New Year, hanging on the horizon, "running to tell each other", and frequently conveying the good news of the cliffs...
Mr. Gan Jianhua is a professor, a scholar, and he is also a very rigorous teacher. In addition to compiling his own works and publishing texts for careful proofreading and review, he often patiently gave guidance and advice on my personal profiles and some aspects of the poetry creation process that should be paid attention to. Before getting in touch, Mr. Gan Jianhua's literary and historical masterpiece "Basin Style" included a passage of my entry, which was a great encouragement to me. This book contains the stories and introductions of seniors and famous artists who have lived and worked in Qinghai Qaidam or who have made slight achievements in Qaidam. There are well-known and well-known outstanding figures in the country. There are outstanding writers of the Chinese contemporary power school that I am familiar with, vice president of the China Prose Literature Association, and former deputy director of the Literature and Art Department of the People's Daily, who met and took photos at a "National Literature and Art Competition Awards Conference" in Beijing in 2018; There is a famous military writer Wang Zongren, at the end of 2019 and 2020, I met in Beijing at the China Prose Annual Conference and Awards Conference and listened to his famous lectures on "What Do We Learn from Liu Qing in the New Era"; There is Xiao Yunru, chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Literature and Art, who went to the Great Northwest many years ago to investigate and collect winds, and we had a side of the cliff. At that time, there was an art newspaper in Shaanxi, and Chairman Xiao also selected several photographic works about photographing the desert and brought them back to the Shaanxi Art Newspaper, but later due to changes in my work, I broke off contact. There are also many famous writers in this book, which gives me more opportunities to learn from my predecessors and masters. Some scholars have commented on Gan Jianhua's book "Basin Style" as "fresh in writing, full of emotions, vivid narrative, knowledgeable, looking back on the past when the voice is full of emotion, combing through history after the facts are abundant, there is a unique and different charm of the text" ... In this life, I can get the guidance and teaching of Gan Jianhua, the eagle of the plateau and the talent of Xianghu Lake, which is a great blessing in my life. We have a common complex: obsessed with the desert, nostalgic for the plateau!
At the beginning of 1982, Teacher Gan Jianhua followed in his father's footsteps and came to Qinghai Qaidam to live, study and work. His father, Gan Lin, was a converted soldier and a heroic oil geological exploration team member who devoted himself to the development and construction of the Great Northwest in 1956. In 1992, Mr. Gan Jianhua was transferred back to his hometown of Hunan to serve as the chief reporter of Hengyang Daily.
I read Gan Jianhua's essay "The Great Wilderness of the Waves of Gasi Lake". This article is majestic and shocking. The beautiful pictures and texts, the wonderful descriptions through historical time and space, beat my heart like waves, and brought me back to that distant place - the shore of Gasi Lake in Qinghai's Qaidam Basin.

Gasi Lake is located in the deepest part of the world-famous Qinghai Qaidam Basin. The cliffs, bordered by the majestic Kunlun in the south and the Slender Argin Mountains in the north, are located at the foot of Etun Prague, which is a frank and open desert for thousands of miles. Known as the "Mirror of the Sky" and "Forehead", The Lake of Gaskule flows quietly in the arms of the land of the cliff, bringing endless joy of life and great spiritual comfort to the people of the cliff who survive, mine, excavate and create miracles in the desert, and has also become the most beautiful scenery of the cliff "except for stones, the sun and the wind".
The newly built welfare living area of our unit is close to the Aral grassland, with green grass and waves in summer, cattle and sheep hidden, and a poetic feeling. The Aral steppe nestles on Lake Gaskul, where the grass is thick and reededs. The Aral River, with its reflection of blue skies and white clouds and snow-capped mountains, stretches through the Aral steppe and empties into Lake Gaskule. Although the grassland is not very large, it also has a scene of "the sky is clear, the wild is vast, and the wind blows and the grass is low to see cattle and sheep." On the shore of Gasi Lake, there are two fierce armies of Qinghai petroleum exploitation army and the former State Building Materials Bureau Qinghai Mangya asbestos mine development!

In the 11 years of living, studying and working in Qinghai, Teacher Gan Jianhua has a deep love for this land. He did not forget what kind of ancient desert his fathers had survived and created and persevered. It has not forgotten that in 1954, the Qaidam Petroleum Geology Brigade set off from Dunhuang, Gansu Province, and arrived at the shore of Gaskule Lake in the western part of the basin seven or eight days later, set up a triangular tent, and began a difficult and lengthy exploration, excavation and oil production work; We will not forget that in 1958, 23 asbestos pioneers carrying two tents, 17 shovels, 5 pickaxes, 17 sacks and a small number of necessities of life, rode from the old cliff in a dilapidated Jiefang brand car, braving the cold wind of the skin, and drove northwest. The yellow sand is long and bumpy; The ravines are wide and the steps are difficult. The car is like a lone boat in the sea, crawling the Gobi Desert. At that time, the 150-kilometer journey took a whole day to reach the bottom of the mountain in Prague, when it was already the time of the red sun and the blood. The heroic trailblazer climbed out of the car in spite of his frozen limbs, and in the twilight, quickly set up a tent, set up a stove, and lit a fire to cook. Since then, in this ancient and desolate land, there has been a lot of cooking smoke... The sonorous sound of 17 shovels awakened the eternal dream of Etum Prague. Since then, entrepreneurs have begun to step on the ice and snow, eat and sleep in the wind, and experience unimaginable and indescribable difficult entrepreneurial roads...
Mr. Gan Jianhua has not forgotten every gravel, every ray of sunshine, every stone, every drop of oil, and every petal of asbestos in the depths of Qaidam in the Great Northwest. These gave him an infinite source of imagination and creation. When he was studying at Qinghai Normal University, although Mr. Gan Jianhua studied geography, the literary cells in his body were unusually active. In 1983, at the age of 19, he presided over the establishment of the first literary society for college students in the history of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Huangshuihe Literary Society, and founded the poetry journal of the same name, which joined the surging wave of literary creation of college students at that time. Near graduation, he edited and printed the first anthology of college students' literary works on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, "Here is also a fertile land" He gave up the opportunity to stay in the provincial capital to work, volunteered to go to the Qaidam oil field, engaged in news reporting and literary creation, and became a well-known journalist, supplement editor and young writer. Although he has returned to his hometown of Hengyang for many years, he still dreams of returning to Qinghai and loving the plateau. He described and praised Qinghai from many aspects and angles, and excavated the literary treasures of Qinghai Qaidam. He used to say, "The scenery there is the scenery of the heavens." ”
Mr. Gan Jianhua is a journalist, a senior editor and a famous writer. Over the years, he has made brilliant achievements in creation, and has also won many awards: he has won the "First Youth Literature Award of Qinghai Province", "The Second China Iron Man Literature Award", "The First Outstanding Journalist of Hengyang City", "The First Top Ten Young Journalists of Hunan Province", "The Third Top Ten Journalists of Hunan Province", "The Fourth Fan Changjiang News Nomination Award of China", and he has published "Qaidam Literature", "That Place in Cold Lake", "Anecdotes of the Basin Literary Art Garden". He won the first Kunlun Literature and Art Award, the 7th Bingxin Prose Award and the 1st Silk Road Prose Award. The writing characteristics, academic value and strong social repercussions of his books have been elaborated in in-depth and detail by experts and scholars in People's Daily, Literature and Art Daily and many university journals.
Writing is a lonely career. But Teacher Gan Jianhua invested a lot of energy and financial resources to write, excavate, and praise that distant place, Qinghai Qaidam.
Recently, Teacher Gan Jianhua has been planning, organizing and compiling a collection of poems called "In That Distant Place". In order to praise the Qinghai Qaidam Cliff people, he also planned and designed various versions of the publicity plan at a speed. His manuscripts and editors-in-chief, "Eight Poets at Home and Abroad Who Left the Qinghai Love Plateau", "Eight Female Poets at Home and Abroad Who Left the Qinghai Love Plateau for the Second Time", and "Leaving the Qinghai Love Plateau for the Third Time" (Selected Poems by Alumni of Qinghai Normal University), were all published in the headlines of the "China Poetry Network", causing strong repercussions. My two small poems, "The Cliff of the Vast" and "Clouds on the Edge of the Sky", were fortunately selected under the guidance of Teacher Gan. Without stopping, Mr. Gan was invited to compose and edit the 4th issue of "Bayin River" poetry special number in 2020.
Because of his lack of pen strength, he did not dare to evaluate the works of Teacher Gan Jianhua, but through this simple text, he intended to express a respect for the same people and a gratitude to his teacher. I think that after a few years, whether it is Qinghai, the people of Qinghai, or the people who have lived and worked in the land of Qinghai, or the literati and inkers scattered all over the country who have been compiled into the literature and history books by Teacher Gan Jianhua, and all the readers and friends who love words will not forget this outstanding prodigy and eccentric who has studied both Chinese and Western cultures- Gan Jianhua.
Writing the pen, it was already night and quiet, and I launched the book "Basin Style" given to me by Teacher Gan Jianhua. My mind has been unable to wait with the characters and stories in the book, and the ups and downs... At this moment, I felt completely in the plateau desert...
