He was a senior general of our army, and he once brought out 800 founding generals. After the founding of New China, he resigned as a marshal, why is this? This general was Xu Xiangqian. As the only northerner among the ten founding marshals of the republic, Xu Xiangqian is a very legendary figure. In his body, there are many fine traditions and spirits, which are worth learning from our descendants.
Xu Xiangqian was admitted to the Whampoa Military Academy in his early years, and later participated in the Northern Expedition. In 1927, Xu Xiang joined the Communist Party, and from then on, began his revolutionary career. After joining the Party, Xu Xiangqian was very loyal to the revolutionary cause, and he led many important activities and campaigns. In 1929, Xu Xiang was sent to Hubei as deputy commander of the 31st Division of the Red Army.
During his leadership position in the Red Army, Xu Xiangqian actively expanded the strength of the Red Army and called on ordinary people to join the army to defend the fruits of victory. The Red Army under Xu Xiangqian's command expanded rapidly, and the troops quickly grew from a few thousand to more than 40,000, including more than 800 founding generals. Xu Xiangqian served as the commander of the Red Fourth Army and the commander-in-chief of the Red Fourth Front. In 1932, Xu Xiangqian led the four fronts of the army, more than 20,000 troops to the Border of Sichuan and Shaanxi, creating a new revolutionary base area.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Xu Xiangqian served as the deputy commander of the 129th Division and led his troops to the south of Hebei to open up a base area. In the summer of 1939, Xu Xiangqian came to Shandong to open up a base area. During the Liberation War, Xu Xiangqian led the North China Field Army to participate in the Battle of Taiyuan.
Later, Xu Xiangqian suffered from pleurisy, but out of loyalty to the revolutionary cause, he still lay on a stretcher and commanded the battle. Xu Xiangqian made many contributions to the expansion of the Red Army, and he also cultivated many talents and became a senior general of the people's army.
Therefore, in 1955, when the rank was awarded, as a representative of the Red Fourth Front, Xu Xiangqian was awarded the rank of marshal. However, Xu Xiangqian, like General Su Yu, was a very modest person. For the rank of marshal, Xu Xiangqian was not interested, and he hoped to be able to resign the rank of marshal.
From the resignation of the rank of marshal, we can see that Xu Qianqian has the lofty quality of being humble. Xu Xiangqian also said to the people around him: The revolution has been successful, and it does not matter whether the marshal wants it or not. However, the Central Military Commission still awarded him the rank of marshal, which was recognized by the Central Military Commission and the people for Xu Qianqian's revolutionary contributions.
Later, Xu Xiangqian continued to contribute to the development of the country and the army, and he successively served as vice chairman of the National People's Congress, minister of national defense, and vice premier. In 1979, our army launched a self-defense counterattack, and Xu Xiangqian participated in some of these decisions.
After the 1980s, in order to support the policy of youthization of the cadre team, Xu Xiangqian resigned from some positions. From here, it can also be seen that Xu Xiangqian's high wind and bright festival. In 1990, Marshal Xu Xiangqian died in Beijing. Although Marshal Xu Qianqian left us, his exploits will always be remembered by history and the people.
