Criminals in the Czech Republic are better off being careful, as the local police recently received 10 BMW 540i xDrive Touring models and no less than 70 BMW police cars in the coming years. Half of the 10 540i xDrive Tourings recently handed over to police by BMW will be used for highway surveillance, with prominent police-painted stickers. The remaining five cars are unmarked and used for high-speed chases.

Road police receive specially equipped vehicles equipped with top driving characteristics and a high level of active and passive safety, which is standard on the BMW brand. Powering the BMW 540i xDrive Touring, a mild hybrid 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine delivers 335 hp at 5500 rpm and 331 lb-ft (449 Nm) of torque at 1500 rpm. The 8-speed automatic transmission is equipped with a four-wheel drive system.
