Remove the closefit quarantine recommendation

Data as of 18 July shows that the cumulative number of confirmed cases of monkeypox infection in the UK is 2,137, an increase of 15% in three days, and the outbreak continues to grow.

Of these, most cases were reported in England (2,050), with particular concentrations in the London area (1,492).

It is reported that in order to further control the monkeypox outbreak, the UK Health and Safety Agency (UKHSA) has received an additional 100,000 doses of smallpox vaccine doses that can effectively control the spread of monkeypox, and the effective rate of the vaccine is about 85%.

The Ministry of Health and Social Health said monkeypox is still considered a rare, often mild disease that does not easily spread from person to person. By increasing the procurement of more than 100,000 doses of the vaccine, further protection is provided to those at risk of infection. It is also recommended that if any unusual rashes or lesions are found, contact a sexual health clinic.

In addition, the UK Department of Health has lifted quarantine recommendations for close contacts of monkeypox infections without symptoms.

The reason for this change is that data show that only a small number of close contacts will eventually be diagnosed with monkeypox infection, and there is a lack of evidence that the disease can spread without close, intimate or sexual contact.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) plans to convene an emergency committee meeting on Thursday, July 21, to weigh for the second time in weeks whether the monkeypox outbreak constitutes a "Public Health Emergency of International Concern" (PHEIC).

Experts believe that even if classified as a "public health emergency of international concern", monkeypox is unlikely to be as "globally destructive" as the new crown virus. Because the monkeypox virus is transmitted "from person to person", unlike the new coronavirus, which is transmitted through the air, it is much less contagious.

In addition, the mortality rate per 1,000 adult cases of monkeypox is less than 1, which is lower than the mortality rate of unvaccinated people after infection with the new crown virus.

Before finally selecting two candidates, Liz Truss supporters urged rival Rishi Sunak's team to "not engage in dirty behind-the-scenes deals" in an attempt to lend out ballots to influence the outcome of the vote.

The move came after YouGov polls showed that Liz Truss could beat Rishi Sunak with an "easy advantage." As a result, Rishi Sunak was skeptical of whether he would adopt a "tactical vote" to avoid running into Liz Truss in the final campaign.

Inflation is a measure of how the prices of goods and services have changed over the past year. When that number rises, so do the prices of everyday items and necessities, as well as bill amounts, while living budgets tighten further.

Experts warn that inflation will only continue to rise, with the Bank of England predicting inflation could reach 11% by the end of the year.

Asked if the need to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 is in danger of being overlooked, the Treasury's chief secretary argued that "fires are a warning sign about the impacts of climate change."

The mayor of London said it was "unbelievable" that there was no more prominent talk of global warming in the prime ministerial campaign. The weather the UK has faced over the past few days is a direct consequence of climate change." New relationships between cities and countries and climate change adaptations should be found, such as improving public transport housing and so on.

"Special vigilance" is needed to infect COVID-19

The link between diabetes and diabetes

According to a new study by researchers at King's College London, people infected with COVID-19 are at increased risk of developing diabetes or cardiovascular disease within three months of infection. However, the risk of diabetes gradually returns to normal after 23 weeks, and the higher risk of cardiovascular disease lasts for about 7 weeks.

They stressed that both patients and doctors need to be "especially vigilant" during the post-COVID-19 period, but added that there was no evidence of an increased long-term risk of such health problems.

In the four weeks after covid-19 infection, the number of diagnosed diabetes cases increased by 81%, and the risk of infection remained 27% higher for up to 12 weeks. In the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, the risk of developing the disease increased sixfold in the four weeks after infection with COVID-19, but the risk began to decline from five weeks later and returned to "baseline level or lower" within 12 weeks to a year.

Professor Ajay Shah, chairman of cardiology at the British Heart Foundation and executive dean of the School of Life Sciences and Medicine, said the findings were "very valuable". "It is clear that special vigilance is needed at least for three months after infection".

The U.S. defense secretary said the U.S. would send four more highly maneuverable artillery rocket systems (HIMARS) to Ukraine in the next security aid. Another round of weapons, ammunition and equipment is expected to be supplied to Ukraine later this week. It added that the United States has "pledged more than $2.6 billion in security assistance to Ukraine."

It is reported that the German government plans to further extend the current COVID-19 infection protection law, which will expire on September 23. But it's still unclear what will be included.

The Protection Act forms the legal basis for measures taken by the cantons and identifies possible means that could be used to control the epidemic. Currently, only basic measures are in effect across Germany, including mandatory mask wearing on public transport.

The coalition is currently discussing future regulations. According to the German president of the World Medical Association, the protection law should allow for longer-term measures to protect people from COVID-19 infection.
