As the eldest son of Zhang Zuolin, a great warlord in the northeast, Zhang Xueliang was already at a height that ordinary people could not reach as soon as he was born. After Zhang Xueliang became an adult, Zhang Zuolin arranged a wedding for him and married Yu Fengzhi, a wealthy merchant in the northeast, Yu Jindou. In 1954, Zhang Xueliang learned that his friend Dong Xianguang was going to the United States on a business trip, so he entrusted him to help investigate his son's recent situation. After several twists and turns, Dong Xianguang finally found Zhang Lulin, and at this time Zhang Lulin had already established a family and had a son. After continuous efforts by all parties, the family was finally reunited. Zhang Lulin also deliberately brought her son. Zhang Xueliang looked at his lively and lovely grandson and was even more overjoyed. The family happily spent a month. However, because Zhang Xueliang had not yet been freed, Zhang Lulin could only return to the United States with her children.
It was not until the death of Jiang's father and son that Zhang Xueliang regained his freedom. But because of the social environment at that time, Zhang Xueliang could not return to China, and then, he went to settle in the United States with Zhao Yidi, during his time in the United States, Zhang Xueliang always wanted to return to the northeast land where he was born and raised, but it backfired, and he could not return to the motherland until his death. In May 1994, Zhang Lulin took the opportunity of returning to China to exchange ideas and returned to her hometown in Northeast China, when he was already a 64-year-old man. Since he had lived in the United States since he was a child, he had forgotten how to speak Chinese. Under the guidance of the interpreter, Zhang Lulin went to her grandfather's grave to pay tribute. After the end of the trip, Zhang Lulin brought back two things to her father, and Zhang Xueliang was first silent when he saw these two things, and then he burst into tears.
