At noon on July 5, 2022 local time, an explosion occurred at an arms depot in the black market for weapons in the "lawdar" area of abyan province in the northern abyan province east of Yemen's temporary capital, killing at least 5 people and injuring 30 others, with the number of dead and injured or further rising. A two-story building collapsed, and nearby buildings were badly damaged. A security official said the cause of the explosion was unclear.
