From Laoshan Bus Terminal In western Beijing, drive through Chang'an Avenue, all the way east to Sihui Junction Station, and then turn back. Since 2014, Chang Hongxia has been driving the No. 1 bus almost every day, following this line and shuttling around the city.

Prior to this, Chang Hongxia was a flight attendant at Beijing Public Transport Holdings (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Bus"). After 5 years of accumulation, she obtained an A1 driver's license (large bus driver's license) and officially became a bus driver in 2001. Over the years, she has experienced many iterations of the bus type, and has also witnessed the rapid development of cities and public transportation.

As a representative of the 13th Party Congress in Beijing, Chang Hongxia hopes to conscientiously study and comprehend the spirit of the Party Congress, better serve the majority of passengers, and serve the development of the capital in the new era.

Half a basin of water at the end practice driving, "ears listening to the eight directions" for passengers to serve

Chang Hongxia has had the desire to drive a bus since she was a child. "If one day, I can drive such a behemoth, how mighty!" It wasn't until she grew up that she understood the true meaning of the job.

Public transport is like the "blood" of a city, it is active, busy, and transports vitality to all corners. Becoming a bus driver is not easy. After more than a year of training and assessment, on April 10, 2001, Chang Hongxia finally got the opportunity to drive alone, she deliberately arrived at the unit two hours in advance, saw her colleagues on the morning shift, and went up to ask about the road conditions and precautions.

At first, she didn't drive smoothly, and the flight attendant sitting at the back door described her car as "'bowing' on the brakes and 'straightening her chest' at the start." To this end, Chang Hongxia specially asked the teacher Fu for advice, every day at home with half a basin of water to simulate driving, so that the arm is more powerful, the leg better control of the brakes and accelerator, in the face of unexpected situations, but also to ensure that the driving action is not deformed. She often told herself that only by driving the car well and steadily could passengers feel more at ease.

She overcame many obstacles. After a car, it takes more than 1 hour, and she must sit in the parking space with full concentration, thirsty, afraid to drink too much water, because she can't stop halfway to go to the toilet. Hungry, you can only wait for the end of the one-way operation to deal with a bite, for fear of being sleepy after eating. For driving safety, individual needs are always in the back row.

But the needs and emotions of the passengers are something she will never overlook. 5 years of cabin crew work and 21 years of driver experience, so that Chang Hongxia has the skills of "looking at the six roads, listening to the eight directions".

Some passengers waited for a long time, kept opening their mouths to complain, she always hung a smile to reassure: "I'm really sorry, just now the road is a little congested, let you wait for a long time, there is a seat over there, do you want to sit first?" Looking at the sincerity that overflowed from the corners of Chang Hongxia's eyes, passengers often lost their temper immediately.

Her carriage took the lead in setting up a "heart-warming box", which contained more than 20 kinds of emergency items such as charging treasures, convenience bags, masks, etc. Sometimes, young mothers coaxed children who could not cry, and the flight attendants could take out the small dolls in the box to appease them. She also and her colleagues provided guided tours on the No. 1 bus, telling the red story. When the car drove past Chang'an Avenue, the story also came to an end, and the passengers spontaneously clapped, "Well told!" The car is also driving steadily. ”

Ordinary work, extraordinary performance

Opened in September 1935, Bus No. 1 is one of the first bus lines to run in Beijing after the founding of the People's Republic of China, and is also the first bus line in Beijing to operate 24 hours a day.

In 1995, Chang Hongxia became a flight attendant at Beijing Bus, one step closer to her dream driver position. After 5 years of cabin crew work, she accumulated a wealth of experience and skills in carriage service, and when she reached the age of driving license, Chang Hongxia excitedly signed up. When she was driving with her teacher Fu, she realized that the job was not so simple. At that time, the bus was still a manual transmission, and the front-mounted engine was on the right side of the driver, only about half a meter away from the thigh, and the leg was burned hot after a lap.

There was no air conditioning in the car, and when the summer came, whether it was the driver, the flight attendant or the passenger, they were all sweating in the roar of the engine. There are no special bus lanes, private cars are blocked, and passengers can only wait at the station, necks and anxiously waiting.

Now, that's changed. When Chang Hongxia drove on the road, the model had been upgraded from manual gear to stepless shifting, reducing the driver's labor intensity, allowing them to have more energy to observe the road conditions, and the safety of passengers was more secure.

Chang Hongxia was grateful for this and demanded herself more strictly. The overalls were welded to her all year round, and her long hair was always on the back of her head with hairpins. "This is also to make our front-line personnel more recognizable, so that passengers in need of help can find us as soon as possible."

In 2010, at the first professional competition of vocational skills buses for employees held by the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, Chang Hongxia, who weighed more than 80 kilograms, replaced nearly 200 kilograms of tires in 10 minutes. Combined in all subjects, she became the only female player in the top 10 and achieved senior driver qualifications.

"That's an affirmation of me." Chang Hongxia said: "Our work is very ordinary, but it can also create extraordinary performance. ”

She felt she could do more. In 2019, she became the leader of the "Hongxia Innovation Studio", leading the team to carry out innovation research and help the team solve practical problems. In recent years, the studio has developed more than 20 achievements and topics such as antifreeze filling machines and bus drivers standardized operation of voice prompts, which have saved more than 3 million yuan for enterprises.

Digitalization brings convenience, and the bus line network covers Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei

In the past five years, the No. 1 bus has changed even more.

In October 2017, the first batch of "China Red" as the appearance theme of the 18-meter-long pure electric 1-way channel car was officially put into operation, the appearance of the bionic dolphin shape, streamlined design can minimize the wind resistance, more energy saving and emission reduction, driving is also more stable, quieter, regional intelligent scheduling is more punctual and efficient, if encountered unexpected situations, you can also one-click alarm, one-key contact to the regional transfer center, now, the card machine can also automatically check the nucleic acid results of passengers.

In addition, the digitization and technological transformation of Beijing's public transport have also brought great convenience to passengers and front-line workers. Each driver has installed a "bus intelligent assistant APP" on his mobile phone, which can grasp the departure time and vehicle situation at any time; The active safety early warning system on the car can avoid traffic accidents to the greatest extent; Electronic stop signs and Beijing bus APP can also allow passengers to grasp the arrival time of vehicles at any time and arrange travel more reasonably.

Chang Hongxia's driving route is still the same every year, but the scenery outside the car window is different from year to year. The sky is bluer, the streets are wider, and there are bus lanes that extend to intersections, form networks, and spread across the city. This net has changed from small to large, vehicles from few to more, and services from single to diverse. The new energy bus has entered the small mountain village, and people can walk through beijing, Tianjin and Hebei with a bus card.

Sometimes in the morning rush hour, she gallops in the open lane, skimming the congested private convoy next to her, and will hear the passengers unconsciously say: "Hey! Or the bus is fast. Chang Hongxia was very happy to hear this: "This shows that with the strong support of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, public transportation has made a qualitative leap." ”

The report pointed out that in the next five years, Beijing will adhere to the priority of public transportation, optimize the layout of bus lines and stations, improve the network of walking and cycling lanes, and create a convenient and comfortable green travel environment.

This also encouraged Chang Hongxia, "Behind the bus priority, in fact, the people are given priority, and all the starting points are to better serve the people in the capital." In the future, we will also combine the development needs of public transportation in the new era, strive to enhance the happiness and security of citizens' travel, and resonate with the development of the capital. ”
