Eric Michaels is a signatory member of the American Oil Painters Association, the National Watercolor Association, and the Pastel Society of America. Myles was born and raised in Illinois. His formal schooling ended with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After a brief stint as a commercial illustrator, he moved on to a career in fine arts and now lives in Whitehall, Michigan. Extensive global travel provided him with constant inspiration.
The most prominent feature of Eric Myckles's work is its international flavor, whose themes span four continents and two hemispheres. Painting in these different places allows him to achieve an understanding of the local light conditions and participate in the local experience. He is also known for his epic paintings in history and Western genres.
His paintings are in private, corporate, museum, and state government collections, including the Albuquerque Museum of Fine Arts, the American Museum, the Booth Museum, the Harkin Museum, the A.R. Mitchell Museum, the American Indian Art Institute, the Phillips Oil Company, IBM, the Honeywell Sperry Company, Puma International, and the Governor of New Mexico. Myles has participated in the Royal Watercolor Society in London and is a frequent attendee of "Exploring the West" exhibitions by American Artists, Great American Artists and the Etchog Museum.
