Alpine vultures are birds of the genus Vultures in the family Hawkaceae, large birds of prey. Inhabiting grasslands, deserts, bare rocks and other habitats on the plateau, but also to the edge of high-altitude forests, often soaring in the air foraging, gathering large groups of carrion and corpses for food, when feeding, like to extend the head and neck, open wings, run or jump forward, to intimidate predators. It is one of the highest flying birds in the world and a national grade II protected animal.
