In Japan, the north-south distance is beyond the imagination of the average person.

Taketomi is part of Yaeyama-gun, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, and in ancient times belonged to the Ryukyu Kingdom, and everyone knows that Ryukyu was a former vassal state of China.

Taketomicho, the town of Ryukyu Islands

In 1372, Yang Zai, an envoy of the Ming Dynasty, set foot on the Ryukyu Islands in the southeastern sea of the mainland for the first time with the mission of Zhu Yuanzhang, the ancestor of the Ming Dynasty. The edict did not hold the strong and the weak, and in line with the principle of peace, the Ryukyu Islands officially became a vassal state of the Ming Dynasty and an important part of China's territory.

In the centuries that followed, Japan continued to make small moves, during which it also sent troops to capture and seize the Ryukyu Kingdom, and Ryukyu became a vassal region of both China and Japan from 1610 AD.

In 1879, Japan sent troops and police to defeat the army led by the Prince of Ryukyu, completely occupied Ryukyu, and changed its name to Okinawa Prefecture.

Later, the Qing Dynasty could not take care of itself, especially after the Sino-Japanese War, even Taiwan Province was ceded, not to mention Ryukyu. Until the end of World War II, Roosevelt originally wanted to hand over Vietnam and Ryukyu to Chinese administration.

"I consider that Ryukyu is very close to your country and has close historical ties with your country, so if you want the Ryukyu Islands, you can leave it to your country to administer," Roosevelt told Chiang Kai-shek at the Cairo Conference in 1943. But the conservative and suspicious Chiang Kai-shek declined.

Roosevelt also specifically explained: "The Ryukyu Islands look useless now, but once your country takes back Taiwan, Ryukyu will be your eastern barrier, and its strategic position is extremely important." Moreover, after China obtains the Ryukyu Islands, it can directly control Japan's sea lines of communication to avoid the re-emergence of Japanese fascist forces, and if your country wants, after the war, the Ryukyu Islands will be returned to China together with Taiwan and the Penghu Islands. ”

Chiang Kai-shek suspected that Roosevelt had some sinister intentions, so why did he have to send the Ryukyu Islands in vain? Because I could not understand it, I replied: "Although Ryukyu was once a vassal of China, it is an independent country, and the treatment of Ryukyu after the war should be the same as that of the Korean region, even if Ryukyu is not independent, we should also hand it over to international organizations and then be administered by China and the United States together." ”

The strategic position of the Ryukyu Islands is very high

At this point, Roosevelt also understood that this Chairman Chiang Kai-shek really could not support Ah Dou. The Ryukyu Islands have also completely lost the opportunity to return to the embrace of the motherland, and if there is no major war in the future, the possibility of redividing the territory is unlikely. After all, after World War II, Japan's frenzied persecution of the indigenous people in Ryukyu has assimilated Ryukyu to a large extent. At present, there are more than 1.2 million people, and the indigenous people are about 100,000.

At present, in addition to being a tourist attraction in Japan, the Ryukyu Islands are also an important military strategic place, and the OKIN military base in Okinawa, which is only about 400 kilometers away from the Diaoyu Islands, strangles the "throat" of the East China Sea and the Western Pacific Ocean, and is stationed in the four major branches of the US military, land, air and air force and marine corps, with about 20,000 soldiers, accounting for two-thirds of the number of US troops stationed in Japan.

The process of recovering the Dumb Frog at the Okinawa military base is an obstacle

I hope that when the Chinese people have the opportunity to travel to Japan, they will also go to the homeland of the motherland to see, and I believe that there will always be opportunities to return here to the embrace of the motherland in the future.
