Millions of people have been forced to leave their homes in Bangladesh, which is suffering its worst monsoon attack in 25 years, and more than 40 people have died in incomplete statistics.

As extreme seasonal weather turns roads into ferocious rivers, some have had to wait on rooftops all day for rescue. Heavy rains began on Friday (June 17) and continued throughout the weekend, with Sunday evening (June 19) continuing efforts to rescue people trapped inside the building and distribute aid. Troops are now deployed in the northeastern region of Sylhet, which has suffered some of the worst effects of the floods. Bangladeshi army, navy and coast guard members worked with local aid workers to move people from low-lying areas to the highlands.
Mosharraf Hussein, chief government administrator for the Sylhet region, told AFP: "The situation is terrible. More than 4 million people were trapped by floodwaters. "Much of the northeast of the country is underwater, and the situation is getting worse as the downpour continues".
